(NARRATOR)>> TODAY ON DETROIT MUSCLE OUR '69 CHARGER PROJECT NEEDS A NEW FLOOR. SO IT'S TIME TO BUST OUT THE TORCH. THEN TOMMY GETS SOME PIN STRIPING LESSONS FROM ONE OF ED ROTH'S ORIGINAL ARTISTS.
(TOMMY)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME TO DETROIT MUSCLE. NOW SPEAKING OF DETROIT MUSCLE, WE'RE ABOUT WAIST DEEP IN AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THOSE, OUR '69 DODGE CHARGER PROJECT.
(MARC)>> AND IT MAY LOOK A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT THAN THE LAST TIME YOU SAW IT BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN BUSY TEARING IT APART, AND WE'VE GOT A BUNCH OF JUNK HERE ON THE FLOOR WE NEED TO CLEAN UP, BUT THE REASON WE DID THAT IS BECAUSE WE'RE GONNA MOVE ON TO THE INSIDE TO START WORKING ON SOME OF THE SHEET METAL, MAINLY THOSE FLOOR PANS.
(TOMMY)>> WE PICKED UP OUR '69 CHARGER IN ALABAMA, AND SO FAR SHE'S HAD SOME SHEET METAL SWAPPED OUT ALONG WITH A TOP TO BOTTOM REBUILD OF THAT FOUR SPEED GEAR BOX SO THAT IT CAN HOLD UP TO SOME ENGINE UPGRADES.
(MARC)>> SPEAKING OF WHICH, WE TOOK OUT THE TIRED OLD 440 THAT CAME WITH THE CAR AND GOT IT BORED OUT TO INSTALL A SET OF BRAND NEW 30 OVER PISTONS ALONG WITH NEW RINGS AND BEARINGS, AND SOME EDELBROCK HEADS. THEN WE RESTORED THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND REPLACED SOME OF THE PARTS WITH SOME NEW AFTERMARKET PIECES, LIKE THE FRONT BRAKES.
(TOMMY)>> AND SINCE THE LAST TIME YOU SAW IT, WE GOT THAT OLD NASTY INTERIOR GUTTED AND BOY WAS IT BAD.
WE ALSO STRIPPED OFF SOME MAJOR COMPONENTS, LIKE THE FRONT BUMPER, FENDERS, AND DOORS.
WHENEVER WE WENT TO GO PICK UP OUR MOPAR WE KNEW IT NEEDED SOME REPAIR DONE HERE ON THE FRONT SIDE OF THE FLOOR PANS. SOMEBODY TRIED TO MAKE A REPAIR BY JUST SLATHERING IN A WHOLE BUNCH OF BODY FILLER, AND THAT JUST AIN'T GONNA CUT IT. THEN AFTER WE GOT THE CARPET OUT OF THIS THING WE NOTICED THAT SOMEBODY PUT A BUNCH OF BOOGER WELDS HOLDING THIS TRANSMISSION HUMP IN PLACE AND THE REAR FLOOR PAN WAS A LITTLE BIT THIN, NOT TO MENTION THAT RUST HOLE IN IT. SO WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO IS GO AHEAD AND REPLACE THIS WHOLE PAN FROM SIDE TO SIDE, AND THIS SEAM HERE ALL THE WAY UP TO THERE.
(MARC)>> WE'LL START BY MARKING OUT WHERE OUR SUBFRAME RAILS AND CROSS BRACE RUN ALONG THE FLOOR SO WE DON'T CUT INTO THEM WHEN WE'RE CUTTING OUT THE SHEET METAL.
WE NEED TO GET THAT PLASTIC BODY FILLER OUT OF THE WAY SINCE THE PLASMA CUTTER DOESN'T LIKE DEALING WITH THAT STUFF.
THERE'S SOME MORE OF IT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HIDING A HOLE BIG ENOUGH TO FIT A CAT THROUGH. NOW BEFORE WE CAN JUST GO CUTTING ON THAT FLOOR WE WANT TO BRACE THIS THING UP A LITTLE BIT BECAUSE THIS IS A UNIBODY CAR, AND THE FLOOR IS PART OF THE STRUCTURE. SO I'M GONNA RUN OVER TO XOR, SEE IF I CAN BORROW SOME METAL. [ welder crackling ]
(MARC)>> WELL THIS STUFF RIGHT HERE IS WHAT I LIKE TO CALL FAIR AND SQUARE TUBING CAUSE IT'S SQUARE OF COURSE. WE'RE JUST GONNA USE A COUPLE OF THESE ON EACH SIDE AND WELD THEM HERE TO THE ROCKER. THAT'S JUST GONNA PROVIDE A LITTLE BIT OF EXTRA SUPPORT.
(TOMMY)>> OF COURSE BEFORE WE TRY TO WELD ANYTHING TO THE CAR WE WANT TO MAKE SURE TO GRIND OFF THE PAINT SO WE CAN GET A NICE, SOLID WELD. THEN IT'S TIME TO BUST OUT THE OLD PLASMA TORCH. WE'LL BE CAREFUL TO STAY AWAY FROM WHERE WE MARKED OUR BRACING, AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES WE'LL GET A SIGNIFICANT CHUNK OF THIS FLOOR CUT OUT.
[ torch cutting metal ]
(MARC)>> YOU KNOW, BACK BEFORE THE MUSCLE CAR ERA THE BIG THREE FOR THE MOST PART IGNORED THE PERFORMANCE SIDE OF THE MARKET. YOU HAD YOUR CORVETTES AND A COUPLE OF OTHER ODD BALLS, BUT IF YOU WANTED SPEED YOU HAD TO HIT THE AFTERMARKET AND BUILD IT YOURSELF, UNTIL 1964 WHEN ONE CAR CHANGED IT ALL. AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MUSCLE CAR ERA SOMEBODY HAD TO TAKE A REAL CHANCE TO APPEAL TO THE SPEED MINDED YOUTH MARKET, AND THAT WOULD BE PONTIAC.
A FEW RENEGADES IN THE COMPANY IGNORED CORPORATE POLICY AGAINST STOCK CAR RACING AND PACKED A MASSIVE 389 CUBIC INCH ENGINE INTO A SMALL, LIGHT WEIGHT MODEL, AND THUS THE GTO WAS BORN.
(MARK)>> I'M HERE WITH MY '64 GTO. IT'S A POST CAR. A FACTORY 389 TRIPOWER FOUR SPEED. MY DAD, HE BROUGHT IT HOME ON A TRAILER IN PIECES WHEN I WAS 14. SAID THIS IS GONNA BE MY FIRST CAR. IT WAS INTENDED TO JUST REALLY BE JUST A KIND OF PUT IT TOGETHER AS A DRIVER, AND AS WE GOT INTO IT YOU KNOW WE OBVIOUSLY WENT A LITTLE OVERBOARD FOR AN EVERYDAY DRIVER IN RESTORING IT.
(MARC)>> CONSIDERED BY MANY TO BE THE FIRST MUSCLE CAR, IT WAS THE SHOT HEARD ROUND DETROIT. PONTIAC ESSENTIALLY TOOK AN OLD MAN'S CAR, THE TEMPEST, AND MADE I COOL WITH BIG POWER, A THREE SPEED HURST SHIFTER, SPORT SUSPENSION, WIDE WHEELS, HOOD SCOOPS, DUAL EXHAUST, AND SPECIAL BADGING, AND TOOK IT TO THE STREETS.
(MARK)>> THIS IS THE CAR THAT I LEARNED HOW TO WORK ON CARS.
(MARC)>> THE GTO OPENED THE DOOR FOR EVERYONE THAT WAS WAITING TO PRODUCE A SEXY ROAD BEAST THAT WAS AFFORDABLE, MEAN, AND FUN TO DRIVE.
(MARK)>> IT DRIVES LIKE IT'S FROM THE '60'S. I BUILT THE CAR BACK ALL ORIGINAL, MANUAL BRAKES, MANUAL STEERING. IT GOES GREAT WHEN YOU'RE GOING STRAIGHT. I THINK THAT'S WHAT IT WAS BUILT FOR. MY DAD HAD 30 TO 40 GTO'S OVER THE YEARS, I'M GUESSING. OF COURSE THEN HE BROUGHT THIS CAR HOME FOR ME. THAT'S BEEN MY FAVORITE PASSION ALL THESE YEARS.
(MARC)>> AVAILABLE IN A TWO DOOR COUPE, HARD TOP, AND CONVERTIBLE BODY STYLES, THE GTO BECAME AN OVERNIGHT PERFORMANCE SUCCESS THAT WOULD SPEAK TO THE NEW MUSCLE CAR GENERATION, AND OBVIOUSLY ANYONE WITH A PULSE WOULD BE HARD PRESSED NOT TO LOVE THE MEASURE OF GRAB AND GO THIS CAR HAD TO OFFER. CERTAINLY IT'S NOT A TORQUE MONSTER COMPARED TO MANY OF TODAY'S MODERN MUSCLE MASTERS, BUT WHO CAN DENY WHAT PONTIAC STARTED. YOU BE THE JUDGE. OH WAIT, THAT'S A DIFFERENT STORY.
(NARRATOR)>> STILL AHEAD, FINISHING THE FLOOR AND PIN STRIPING 101.
(TOMMY)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME BACK TO THE SHOP. NOW WE'VE GOT THE MAJORITY OF OUR FLOOR CUT OUT, BUT THE NEXT PROCESS THAT WE'VE GOT TO DO, WELL ITS A LOT OF WORK, PLENTY NOISY, AND A WHOLE LOT OF DIRTY.
(MARC)>> THAT'S RIGHT, WE'RE GONNA START WITH THIS ROCK WHEEL RIGHT HERE, AND THAT'S GONNA MAKE A LOT OF NOISE, BUT MY FAVORITE IS GONNA BE A LITTLE LATER. THAT'S GONNA BE THIS AIR CHISEL. [ grinding metal ]
(TOMMY)>> YOU COULD USE A DRILL BIT OR A SPOT WELD CUTTER HERE, BUT WE'VE FOUND A GOOD OLE ABRASIVE LIKE THIS THING WHEEL CAN GET THE JOB DONE FASTER.
(MARC)>> ANOTHER TIP IS TO USE AN AIR GRINDER TO CHEW AWAY AT ANY RUST, PAINT, OR BODY FILLER TO REVEAL THE SPOT WELDS. WITH THE SPOT WELDS CUT, IT'S TIME FOR THAT AIR CHISEL. THIS THING CHEWS THROUGH SHEET METAL LIKE A TORNADO IN A TRAILER PARK.
[ air chisel vibrating ] [ grinding metal ]
(TOMMY)>> WE NEED TO GO BACK OVER WHERE THOSE SPOT WELDS WERE AND GET THE SURFACE CLEANED UP BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE WE'RE GONNA WELD IN OUR NEW FLOOR. WE ALSO NEED TO VACUUM ALL THAT DEBRIS OUT OF THE POCKETS IN THE STRUCTURE. YEARS OF THIS STUFF ACCUMULATING IN HERE IS WHAT CAUSES A LOT OF THIS RUST. THEN WE'LL CHASE THAT WITH A WIRE BRUSH TO KNOCK OFF THE SCALE. WELL WE BLEW ALL THE DUST OUT AND WIPED IT DOWN, AND IT'S PRETTY MUCH READY TO GO. SO WE'RE GONNA TREAT THE RUST INSIDE OF THAT RAIL, AND WHAT WE'RE GONNA USE IS THIS PRODUCT FROM LOCTITE. IT'S CALLED EXTEND RUST TREATMENT. SUPER EASY TO USE, YOU JUST SIMPLY BRUSH IT ON AND LET IT DO ITS THING.
(MARC)>> THIS CONVERTS RUST TO A NEUTRAL SURFACE, WHICH WILL PREVENT ANY FURTHER CORROSION FROM TAKING PLACE ONCE WE'VE ENTOMBED IT WITH OUR NEW FLOOR PAN. YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE TO COVER ALL OF THE SURFACE AREA COMPLETELY, AND IT DOESN'T HURT TO BE GENEROUS WITH THE AMOUNT YOU USE. NOW IN ORDER TO FILL THAT BIG HOLE WE JUST MADE CLEANING OUT ALL THAT RUSTY SHEET METAL, WE DECIDED TO GO WITH THIS FULL FRONT FLOOR PAN THAT WE GOT FROM AUTO METAL DIRECT. THIS IS FOR ALL '66 TO '70 BBODIES, AND IT IS A MOPAR AUTHENTIC RESTORATION PRODUCT, WHICH MEANS IT COMES WITH THE OE THICKNESS STEEL, AND IT COMES WITH ALL THE BRACKETS YOU NEED TO GET IT INSTALLED, LIKE THE PARKING CABLE BRACKET, AND THIS ONE HERE FOR THE SPEEDO CABLE. ONE THING THIS DID NOT COME WITH THOUGH WOULD BE THIS HUMP HERE. THIS IS FOR THE FOUR SPEED. JUST NEED TO GET IT INSTALLED RIGHT THERE.
(TOMMY)>> IT'S A TWO MAN JOB TO GET THIS THING IN PLACE SINCE IT'S SO BIG AND AWKWARD. ONCE WE'VE GOT IT WHERE WE WANT IT WE CAN MARK WHERE WE WANT TO MAKE OUR HOLES FOR OUR NEW SPOT WELDS, ALONG WITH MARKING WHERE WE NEED TO GRIND OFF THE ECOAT. THEN WE'LL GET IT OUT OF THE CAR.
(MARC)>> WE'LL GRAB OUR PNEUMATIC HOLE PUNCHER, ALONG WITH AN AIR GRINDER, AND START GETTING THIS THING PREPPED TO BE WELDED IN. WE'LL ALSO NEED TO BUST OUT THE DRILL TO ACCESS AREAS WHERE WE CAN'T GET WITH OUR HOLE PUNCH.
[ drill spinning ]
(TOMMY)>> WITH THE PAN BACK IN THE CAR WE CAN START CLAMPING IT INTO PLACE. THEN IT'S TIME TO BURN SOME WIRE.
(MARC)>> THAT DID IT.
(TOMMY)>> WE'LL START IN THE MIDDLE AND WORK OUR WAY OUT TO PREVENT ANY BOWING OF THE PANEL. [ welder crackling ]
[ welder crackling ]
(MARC)>> WELL THE FLOOR'S DONE. WE DO HAVE A COUPLE OF OTHER LITTLE PANELS THAT WE NEED TO REPLACE, AND THEN WE CAN GET THIS THING SENT OFF TO THE BLASTER.
(NARRATOR)>> UP NEXT, LEARN TO PIN STRIPE OLD SCHOOL STYLE.
(TOMMY)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME BACK. WELL WE'RE GONNA SWAP UP THINGS JUST A LITTLE BIT AND ACTUALLY DO SOME PAINT TECH. I'VE BROUGHT IN A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE, GARY MIZER. HE MAY LOOK A LITTLE BIT FAMILIAR TO YOU GUYS OUT THERE THAT'S BEEN WATCHING FOR A WHILE BECAUSE HE'S BEEN HERE BEFORE. GARY HELPED US OUT DOING A CANDY AND FLAKE PAINT JOB ON OUR COMET GASER PROJECT, "ALTERED EGO". HE WAS ALSO ONE OF BIG DADDY ED ROTH'S ORIGINAL ARTISTS. WELL OUR PAINT TECH FOR TODAY IS HOW TO PIN STRIPE. NOW I'VE KNOWN MISTER GARY FOR A LONG TIME, AND HE'S REALLY GOOD AT IT. ME, MYSELF, NOT SO MUCH, BUT I'M WILLING TO LEARN. MISTER GARY, WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO FIRST?
(GARY)>> WELL FIRST OF ALL TOMMY, WE NEED TO GET US A BRUSH OUT OF THE ARSENAL HERE, AND I BROUGHT US TWO BRAND NEW BRUSHES OKAY? THIS IS A DOUBLE OUGHT MACK. A LOT OF GUYS LIKE THEM, A LOT OF GUYS DON'T, BUT THIS IS YOUR TOOL. THIS IS YOUR INSTRUMENT WHERE YOU'RE GONNA BE WORKING WITH. NOW IT'S DRY. SO WE NEED TO GET SOME FLUID IN THESE CUPS, WHICH IS MINERAL SPIRITS. THAT'S WHAT YOU THIN YOUR PAINT WITH, AND THEN WE HAVE A CLEANER TOO. THAT'S WHY I HAVE THESE UP HERE. WHEN YOU WASH OUT YOUR BRUSH TO DO THE SECOND COLOR. THIS IS LACQUER THINNER. YOU'RE BEGINNING STAGES. WE NEED TO TEACH YOU HOW TO START PULLING A STRAIGHT LINE, OKAY?
(TOMMY)>> ALL RIGHT.
(GARY)>> WILL THAT WORK FOR YOU?
(TOMMY)>> I GUESS. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE WE NEED TO DO TO THAT BRUSH AT ALL?
(GARY)>> NOT AT ALL.
(TOMMY)>> ALL THEM FUNNY HAIRS, HOW THEY'RE ALL DIFFERENT LENGTHS.
(GARY)>> IT'LL ALL LAY OUT ONCE THAT PAINT'S IN THERE OKAY? NOW SOMETIMES YOU MAY HAVE TO GO IN THERE AND PLUCK ONE OUT LIKE A BAD OLD BEARD HAIR HANGING OUT THERE.
(TOMMY)>> I DON'T, I DON'T...
(GARY)>> JUST GET US ENOUGH DOWN IN THERE THAT WE CAN WET OUR BRUSH. ALL RIGHT, AND WE'RE GONNA PULL A STRAIGHT LINE. IS THAT OKAY?
(TOMMY)>> I MEAN, THE THEORY OF PULLING A STRAIGHT LINE IS FINE, BUT...
(GARY)>> ALL RIGHT, WHAT I DO, I NORMALLY TAKE MY BRUSH AND DIP IT IN THERE. SEE HOW ALREADY IT'S CHANGED ITS SHAPE, AND I KIND OF PALLET IT ON THIS PIECE OF PAPER RIGHT HERE.
(TOMMY)>> NOW IS THERE ANY PARTICULAR TYPE OF PAPER THAT'S BETTER THAN OTHERS?
(GARY)>> A GOOD MAGAZINE, AN OLD HOT ROD MAGAZINE OR SOMETHING WILL WORK REAL WELL, BUT I DON'T LIKE USING MY GOOD STUFF. SO DIP YOUR BRUSH IN THAT THINNER THERE AND KIND OF MOVE IT AROUND ON YOUR PAPER THERE A LITTLE BIT TO KIND OF PULL THAT THINNER OUT OF IT. YOU DON'T WANT IT REAL WET, OKAY? NOW I TAKE THE BRUSH AND I START DOING THIS WITH IT. SEE THAT'S PRETTY TRANSPARENT, AND TO ME THAT'S A LITTLE BIT TOO THIN. SO I JUST KEEP ADDING THE PAINT TO IT.
(TOMMY)>> ADDING THE PAINT TO HERE, OR THAT'S TO YOUR BRUSH RIGHT?
(GARY)>> TO YOUR BRUSH, YES SIR, AND YOU WANT TO GET THAT TO A GOOD CONSISTENCY.
(TOMMY)>> ALL THE BRISTLES, ESSENTIALLY, ARE FULLY SOAKED WITH PAINT?
(GARY)>> YES SIR. YEAH WE WANT TO GET THEM LOADED UP.
(TOMMY)>> IS THAT BRUSH SUPPOSED LOOK LIKE THERE WHERE IT'S GOT ALL THE POKIES?
(GARY)>> OKAY, NOW ON A NEW BRUSH LIKE THAT, SOMETIMES YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO TAKE A SINGLE EDGE RAZOR BLADE AND JUST TRIM THE END OFF SO THAT IT DOESN'T LEAVE LIKE A LITTLE BOOGER LINE OUT THERE. ONCE YOU SIT THAT BRUSH DOWN YOU'VE GOT TO START THAT LINE, YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO KEEP IT RIGHT WHERE YOU WANT IT AND PRESSURE OKAY? SEE HOW I'M PUSHING DOWN ON THE BRUSH? OKAY, THAT'S GONNA CAUSE THE LINE TO BE A CERTAIN THICKNESS.
JUST APPLY SOME PRESSURE TO IT, NOT A WHOLE LOT. NOW START PULLING DOWN AND KEEP THE CONSISTENT PRESSURE. YOU'RE DOING WONDERFUL BROTHER.
YOU DID GOOD!
(TOMMY)>> I THINK THAT'S WHERE IT COMES IN FROM LOADING THE BRUSH AND ALL THAT STUFF.
(GARY)>> YES SIR, THE CONSISTENCY OF THE PAINT PLUS THE PRESSURE OF YOUR HAND, AND ONCE YOU START SEEING THAT LINE LAYING DOWN YOU'LL KNOWN WHEN TO START PUSHING AGAIN CAUSE THE PAINT KIND OF IS FLOWING FROM THAT BRUSH, AND TO KEEP A CONSISTENT LINE YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO KEEP A CONSISTENT PRESSURE TO KEEP THAT LINE.
(NARRATOR)>> UP NEXT, MORE PIN STRIPING HOW TO.
(TOMMY)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME BACK. WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR PIN STRIPING 101 WITH MY FRIEND GARY. NOW EARLIER HE SHOWED US HOW TO LOAD UP THE PAINT ON OUR BRUSH, HOW TO TRIM IT UP A BIT, AND HOW TO PULL A COUPLE OF STRAIGHT LINES, AND NOW IT'S TIME THAT WE CAN GRADUATE TO PULLING SOME CURVED ONES. GARY HOW WOULD WE GO ABOUT THAT?
(GARY)>> WELL BASICALLY TOMMY THE SAME THING WITH PULLING A STRAIGHT LINE, YOU'RE GONNA BE PULLING A ROUND LINE, OR A CURVATURE LINE. WHATEVER'S GONNA FIT THE DESIGN, BUT YOU'RE GONNA BE USING YOUR FINGERS THIS TIME AS A GUIDE, AS A STEADY, TO HOLD AND MAKE SURE THE LINE'S GETTING THAT STRAIGHT LINE LIKE YOU DID THIS LINE HERE.
(TOMMY)>> I'M GONNA HAVE MY WORK CUT OUT.
(GARY)>> I USE MY MIDDLE FINGER AND MY LITTLE FINGER. IT DEPENDS ON WHERE THE PAINT'S AT AND WHAT I'VE GOT ON THE BOARD ALREADY, BUT TODAY WE'RE JUST GONNA BE DOING CURVES LIKE THIS.
OKAY?
(TOMMY)>> WHAT IF YOU WANTED TO MAKE A SHARPER ONE THAN THAT?
(GARY)>> YOU WANT TO MAKE THAT THAT BRUSH IS ROLLING WITH THE LINE CAUSE IF YOU DON'T IT'S GONNA GET BIG, FAT, SQUARE LOOKING LINES COMING OFF OF IT. YOU UNDERSTAND?
(TOMMY)>> YEAH.
(GARY)>> OKAY.
(TOMMY)>> I'M GONNA GIVE THIS A RUN, BUT REGARDLESS IT'S GONNA LOOK LIKE SOMETHING. OOPS, TOO MUCH PAINT!
WHOOP, WHOOP! YEAH, WIGGLY FAT, THAT'S WHAT YOU WAS TALKING ABOUT.
(GARY)>> YOU SEE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT? THE PRESSURE HAS TO BE CONSISTENT.
(TOMMY)>> WE'RE GONNA TRY...
(GARY)>> THAT ONE'S EVEN HARDER.
(TOMMY)>> THAT'S NOT THE GREATEST, IT'S NOT THE WORST.
(GARY)>> YOU'RE JUST BEGINNING BROTHER. IT'S YOUR FIRST TIME TOMMY. YOU'RE DOING ALL RIGHT. AT LEAST YOU'RE TRYING.
(TOMMY)>> YEAH, WE'RE GONNA STAY AFTER IT.
(GARY)>> OKAY, THAT'LL WORK FOR ME.
(TOMMY)>> WHAT'S NEXT?
(GARY)>> I GUESS WE NEED TO WIPE THAT OFF AND WE'LL START ON DOING SOMETHING ELSE. HOW ABOUT THAT? WE'RE GONNA BE APPLYING LINE TO LINE NOW, AND THAT TAKES A REALLY STEADY HAND. SO WE'RE GONNA BE LEARNING WHEN TO STOP AND WHERE TO STOP, AND YOU JUST FOLLOW MY LEAD AND WE'LL BE ALL RIGHT.
YOU NOTICE I KEEP PALLETING THAT BRUSH CAUSE I WANT TO HAVE THE CONSISTENCY FLOWING.
(TOMMY)>> WELL MISTER GARY YOU DEFINITELY MAKE IT LOOK A WHOLE LOT EASIER THAN IT REALLY IS, AND I GUESS YOU COULD SAY ALSO THAT I'VE GOT SOME PRACTICE IN MY FUTURE IF I'M GONNA BE ANY GOOD AT THIS.
(GARY)>> THAT'S WHAT IT'S GONNA TAKE TOMMY, CONSISTENCY AND PRACTICE, PRACTICE, AND PRACTICE, AND PRACTICE SOME MORE.
(TOMMY)>> ALL RIGHTY!
(GARY)>> OKAY!
(MARC)>> HEY EVERYBODY, RECENTLY LINCOLN ELECTRIC BECAME THE OFFICIAL WELDER OF DETROIT MUSCLE. SO OF COURSE THEY SENT US SOME OF THEIR MACHINES, LIKE THE POWER MIG 210 MP BEHIND ME HERE, WHICH ACTUALLY DOES A LOT MORE THAN JUST MIG WELDING, AND WE'RE GONNA TAKE A DEEPER LOOK AT IT PRETTY SOON. WE'VE ALSO GOT A COUPLE OF TIG WELDERS AS WELL AS TWO PLASMA CUTTERS, BUT THEY DON'T JUST MAKE WELDING AND CUTTING MACHINES. THEY MAKE A BUNCH OF OTHER ACCESSORIES THAT'LL HELP YOU GET THE JOB DONE, AND WE'RE GONNA GO OVER SOME OF THOSE RIGHT NOW. OF COURSE THEY HAVE WELDING HELMETS, WHICH THEY CALL THEIR VIKING PRODUCT LINE, AND THIS IS THE TOP OF THE LINE 33-50 SERIES, WHICH HAS AN EXTRA LARGE VIEWING AREA AND AN LCD FILTER, WHICH ALLOWS BETTER VIEWING OF THE PUDDLE AND ARC. IT'S OFFERED IN 14 DIFFERENT DESIGNS, AND OF COURSE I CHOSE AMERICA. THEY HAVE OTHER EYE PROTECTION AS WELL, LIKE SAFETY GLASSES AND THESE GOGGLES FOR PLASMA CUTTING. THEY OFFER A VARIETY OF GLOVES LIKE MIG, TIG, AND THESE ROLL CAGE WELDING GLOVES. THEY ALSO OFFER A FULL LINE OF FLAME RETARDANT CLOTHING AND ALL THE TOOLS YOU'LL NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE, LIKE THIS MAGNETIC WELDING FIXTURE HERE.
