NOW WE'VE BEEN BUSY ON THIS THING ADDING SOME HORSEPOWER UPGRADES WITH A SIX LITER LS THAT'S GONNA MAKE IT GO JUST PLENTY, BUT WE STILL NEED TO DO SOME STUFF THAT'S GONNA MAKE IT WHOA, AND WE ALSO HAVEN'T TOUCHED THE EXTERIOR. SO WE'RE GONNA ADDRESS THAT TODAY AS WELL.
(TOMMY)>> SO OUR PLAN OF ATTACK OF UPGRADING THE BRAKES ON OUR CADILLAC IS WITH A SET OF PADS AND ROTORS FROM EBC. WE DECIDED TO GO WITH THEIR GD SPORT ROTORS. NOW THEY HAVE THIS THERMIC BLACK COATING THAT HELPS IT CUT DOWN ON CORROSION, AND THEY'RE DIMPLED AND SLOTTED TO CUT DOWN ON YOUR BRAKE TEMPERATURES, AND IT ALSO HELPS TO PROMOTE EVEN PAD WEAR. FOR PADS WE'RE GOING WITH THE EBC YELLOW STUFF. NOW THIS IS KIND OF A DUAL PURPOSE PAD. IT CAN BE USED ON THE STREET AND ON THE TRACK. IT DOESN'T REQUIRE ANY PREHEATING LIKE TRACK PADS OFTEN DO, AND IF YOU WORK THIS THING REALLY HOT WELL IT'S JUST GONNA STOP EVEN BETTER. NOW WE'RE NOT REALLY BUILDING A RACE CAR HERE, BUT WE'VE BEEN KNOWN TO HAVE A BIT OF SPIRITED DRIVING BEHIND THE WHEEL.

(MARC)>> WELL THIS CADILLAC, IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE IT'S HAD A BRAKE JOB, ESPECIALLY HERE. IT'S GOT RUST AROUND WHERE THE ROTOR MEETS THE HUB. SO WE'RE GONNA USE THIS LIQUID WRENCH PRO PENETRANT AND LUBRICANT. IT'S GOT A LIGHT BUILT IN HERE. SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT YOU'RE SPRAYING EVEN IN HARD TO SEE AREAS LIKE BACK HERE ON OUR CALIPER BOLTS.
NOW THAT'S REALLY HANDY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE LAYING UNDER YOUR CAR IN A DARK DRIVEWAY. IT'S GOT A STRAW, AND OF COURSE YOU CAN FOLD IT DOWN AND USE JUST THE REGULAR NOZZLE HERE, AND IT EVEN LOCKS SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT MAKING A MESS. WE'LL START BY DRIVING OUT THE PINS THAT HOLD THE PADS AND CLIP IN PLACE.
THESE OLD PADS REQUIRE A LITTLE BIT OF PRYING ON THE CALIPER PISTON TO FREE THEM UP. THEN WE CAN GET THEM SLIPPED OUT. [ drill spinning ]
(MARC)>> NEXT WE'LL UNDO THE BOLTS HOLDING THE CALIPER IN PLACE AND SET IT ASIDE. THEN WE CAN UNBOLT THE ROTOR FROM THE HUB AND GET IT PULLED OFF. NOW WE CAN SLIP ON THE NEW ONES AND BOLT THEM DOWN.
WE'LL SIMPLY REATTACH THE CALIPER AND THEN SLIP OUR NEW PADS INTO PLACE...
...AND SNEAK SOME PERMATEX BRAKE PARTS LUBRICANT ONTO THE BACK SIDE OF THEM.
WE'LL PUT A LITTLE ON THE CLIP AND PINS AS WELL. THEN WE'LL DRIVE'EM IN. [ hammer tapping ]
(TOMMY)>> WELL I'VE HAD ABOUT ALL I CAN HANDLE WITH BREAKING DOWN SOME WHEELS AND TIRES. SO I'M GONNA LET MARK FINISH UP DOING THE BRAKES ON THIS OLD CADILLAC AND I'M GONNA GO AHEAD AND ADDRESS THE APPEARANCE THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT EARLIER ON OUR CADDY.
NOW IT'S PRETTY EASY TO TELL FROM LOOKING AT THE BACK END OF THIS OLD CAR THAT A MAJORITY OF IT, WELL IS A TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY, BACK UP LIGHT LENS, AND THAT MUSTACHE LOOKING THIRD BRAKE LIGHT. SO WHAT I WANT TO DO IS DARKEN THEM UP JUST A BIT SO THEY DON'T STAND OUT AS MUCH, AND THE WAY I PLAN TO DO THAT IS WITH NIGHT SHADES FROM VHT. IT'S A PRETTY SIMPLE PROCESS, AND I'LL SHOW YOU GUYS HOW TO DO IT. NOW THE FIRST STEP YOU CAN DO A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT WAYS. YOU CAN REMOVE THIS LENS ASSEMBLY FROM THE VEHICLE, OR YOU CAN JUST SIMPLY TAPE IT OFF, AND THAT'S WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO. LET ME GRAB SOME TAPE.
YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE TO TAPE IT OFF REALLY WELL AND GET IT IN THAT GROOVE CAUSE YOU DON'T WANT ANY OVERSPRAY.
THE NEXT STEP IS YOU WANT TO CLEAN IT WITH A WAX AND GREASE REMOVER, KIND OF LIKE THIS PREP SPRAY FROM DUPLICOLOR. YOU JUST SIMPLY SPRAY IT ON AND WIPE HER DOWN. ALL RIGHT, NOW IT'S TIME TO GET DOWN TO THE BUSINESS SIDE OF THINGS, AND WITH THIS STUFF YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU SHAKE THE CAN REALLY WELL CAUSE IT'S KIND OF LIKE A CANDY PAINT. IF YOU GO TO SPRAYING IT WITHOUT IT SHAKING UP, WELL YOU MAY NOTICE IT'S CLEARCLEAR, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT TURNS REALLY DARK, AND WITH THAT SAID THE MORE COATS YOU PUT ON, WELL THAT DARKER IT'S GONNA BE AS WELL. SO YOU DON'T REALLY WANT TO GO MUCH MORE THAN THREE COATS OR THE LIGHT MIGHT NOT SHINE THROUGH.
THE NUMBER OF COATS YOU CAN APPLY ALSO CAN BE DICTATED BY HEAVILY YOU APPLY THE PAINT. WE'RE GONNA GO LIGHT ON OURS BECAUSE IT'S EASIER TO GET IT THE WAY YOU WANT IT. THEY RECOMMEND 15 MINUTES BETWEEN COATS, AND AFTER THREE OF THEM WE'RE WHERE WE WANT TO BE. WELL THERE YOU GO. IT'S A SUBTLE TOUCH, AND I HAVE TO SAY IT DEFINITELY HELPED THE BACK SIDE OF THIS BIG BODY CADILLAC.

(TOMMY)>> HEY Y'ALL, WELCOME BACK. NOW WHILE YOU'VE BEEN GONE I'VE BEEN PRETTY HOT AND HEAVY MOUNTING UP A COUPLE OF WHEELS AND TIRES, AND I SAVED ONE TO SHOW YOU GUYS THE PROCESS. NOW THE FIRST THING WE'VE GOT TO DO IS LET THE AIR OUT OF IT. [ air hissing ]
(TOMMY)>> WE'LL USE THIS PNEUMATIC BEAD BREAKER TO BUST THE TIRE LOOSE FROM THE RIM, ADDRESSING BOTH SIDES. NOW A FEW OF YOU OLD FELLAS MAY BE THINKING, MAN, WHAT A TIRE CHANGER BECAUSE OF ALL THE ATTACHMENTS THIS THING'S GOT. WELL Y'ALL WELCOME TO THE COATS APX-90-E. THIS THING'S GOT A LOT OF ATTACHMENTS ON IT, SURE, BUT THEY'RE ALL ON THERE FOR A REASON, TO HELP SAVE YOUR BACK. NOW BACK AT THE SHOP I'VE GOT A COATS 20-20, AND IT CHANGES TIRES BUT IT TAKES A BIT OF EFFORT TO GET IT DONE. WHERE THIS THING WILL SAVE SOME SWEAT OFF YOUR BROW.
WE'LL BEGIN THE REMOVAL PROCESS WITH THIS PNEUMATIC ARM THAT BUTTS UP TO THE LIP OF THE WHEEL. THEN WE'LL PUSH THE BEAD DOWN AND LUBE IT UP.
NOW WE CAN INSERT THIS PRY BAR THAT FLIPS THE BEAD OVER THE RIM. WITH ALL THAT DONE, THE MACHINE CAN REMOVE THE UPPER BEAD.
THIS ARM WILL LIFT THE TIRE UP FOR US, WHILE WE SET THE ROLLER WE USED EARLIER TO REMOVE THE INNER BEAD.
NOW AS FOR RUBBER WE WENT TO CONTINENTAL AND GOT A SET OF THEIR EXTREME CONTACT SPORT TIRES. NOW THESE THINGS WILL GIVE YOU TREMENDOUS GRIP AND HANDLING WHETHER ROAD CONDITIONS ARE WET OR DRY, AND THEY ALSO HAVE GREAT TREAD WEAR. THEY ALSO HAVE QUICK VIEW TREAD WEAR INDICATORS, LIKE THIS D&W. THE "D" STANDS FOR "DRY" AND THE "W" FOR "WET". NOW AS THE TIRE GETS SOME MILES ON THEM, THESE WILL WEAR AWAY GIVING YOU AN INDICATION THAT YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR TIRES.
WELL WE GOT OUR TIRE ALL MOUNTED UP, AND IT'S TIME TO BALANCE IT. WE'RE GONNA BE USING THE CODE 1,600 THREED BALANCER. NOW I'M SURE A BUNCH OF YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN TO TIRE SHOP BEFORE AND SEE SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THIS WHERE THEY SPIN IT, HAMMER ON SOME WEIGHTS. WELL LET'S SHOW YOU WHAT'S ALL INVOLVED. FIRST STEP, MOVE THE ARM TO THE INBOARD WEIGHT LOCATION. THIS PART OF THE PROCESS BASICALLY TELLS THE MACHINE WHAT THE DIMENSIONS OF YOUR WHEEL ARE, AS WELL AS THE LOCATION OF YOUR WHEEL WEIGHTS AS NEEDED. WITH IT SETUP WE CAN LET HER SPIN AND TAKE THE MEASUREMENTS THAT IT NEEDS. NOW WHAT THIS THING JUST TOLD US, WE NEED POINT SEVENFIVE OF AN OUNCE HERE ON THE INBOARD AND TWO OUNCES ON THE OUTBOARD. EASY PEASEY! WE'LL GRAB THREE QUARTERS OF AN OUNCE WORTH OF WEIGHTS AND STICK THEM WHERE IT'S INDICATED ON THE INBOARD SIDE HERE. THEN WE'LL HAVE THE MACHINE LOCATE THE OUTBOARD WEIGHTS, WHERE WE'LL PUT TWO OUNCES. ONE MORE SPIN TO MAKE SURE WE'RE GOOD. WELL WE'RE AT ALL ZEROES, WE'RE GOOD TO GO. WELL IT WASN'T THAT DIFFICULT, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'VE GOT A MACHINE AS NICE AS THIS ONE.
(MARC)>> IF YOU HAVE A GBODY BUICK, THEN YOU KNOW THE STRUGGLE WITH KEEPING THOSE CENTER CAPS LOOKING FRESH AND NEW. THE STICK ON EMBLEMS BEGIN TO DRY AND CRACK, AND THE CAPS THEMSELVES, WELL THEY FADE AND CHIP. WELL NOW THERE'S A SOLUTION TO THOSE PROBLEMS THANKS TO CLASSIC INDUSTRIES. NOW IT'S OBVIOUS TO TELL THAT A CADILLAC'S GOT A BIT OF BLING ON IT, AND WE DON'T REALLY WANT ALL THAT WITH THE DIRECTION OF THE CAR THAT WE'RE BUILDING. SO WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO ADDRESS SOME OF THAT SHINNY STUFF. SO WHAT WE WANT TO DO IS DIAL BACK SOME OF THIS CHROME JUST A BIT, SOMETHING SO THAT IT'S NOT SO SHINNY, AND WE DON'T WANT TO DO IT IN A PERMANENT FASHION BECAUSE WE'RE NOT PROBABLY GONNA BE KEEPING THIS THING FOR FOREVER, AND WHOEVER BUYS IT, WELL THEY MAY HAVE A DIFFERENT TASTE THAN WHAT WE HAVE. WHAT WE'RE GONNA USE TO GET US THERE IS THIS CUSTOM WRAP PEELABLE COATING FROM DUPLICOLOR. NOW THEY MAKE THIS STUFF IN 30 DIFFERENT COLORS. THEY HAVE IT IN MATTE AND GLOSS FINISH, AND THEY ALSO HAVE IT IN CLEAR AS WELL. WHAT WE'RE GONNA BE USING IS THE "MIDNIGHT BLACK". NOW THIS STUFF ISN'T VERY COMPLICATED TO APPLY. SO LET'S GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED. THE BEAUTY BEHIND THIS PRODUCT IS YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO A WHOLE BUNCH OF TAPING. IT'S ACTUALLY ENGINEERED SO THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO, BUT THERE ARE A COUPLE OF CIRCUMSTANCES IN WHEN IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA. IT'S KIND OF LIKE WE'RE GONNA BE SPRAYING THIS GRILL, AND WE DON'T WANT ALL THAT OVERSPRAY TO GO IN THERE AND KIND OF CLOG UP THE RADIATOR. ANOTHER EXAMPLE IS IF YOU WERE PAINTING YOUR WHEELS. YOU DON'T WANT THE OVERSPRAY TO GET IN THERE AND MESS WITH YOUR BRAKES. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, IF YOU'RE GONNA BE SPRAYING AROUND SOME LENSES, WELL YOU WANT TO TAPE THEM THINGS OFF BECAUSE OF THE PLASTIC IN THAT COATING, WELL YOU COULD RUN INTO SOME ADHESION AND/OR ETCHING PROBLEMS. NOW THE FIRST THING WE'VE GOT TO DO IS GO AHEAD AND GET THIS STUFF CLEANED UP SO WE CAN START SPRAYING. WHAT WE'RE GONNA BE USING IS SOME WAX AND GREASE REMOVER, SPRAY IT ON A RAG, GET TO WIPING. NOW WE'RE GONNA WIPE IT DOWN WITH A TACK CLOTH TO GET RID OF ANY LINT, THAT TYPE OF THING.
WE'RE GONNA DO A LITTLE BIT OF MASKING, BUT IT'S MAINLY FOR THE FINE OVERSPRAY. WE DON'T HAVE TO WASTE TIME DOING AN INTRICATE MASK JOB WITH THIS PRODUCT. IF YOU NOTICED, I'M NOT REALLY TAPING IT RIGHT UP AGAINST THE PIECE OF TRIM BECAUSE I WANT TO SHOW YOU HOW WELL THIS STUFF WORKS. NOW THIS IS JUST PRIMARILY DONE TO KEEP A MAJORITY OF THE OVERSPRAY OFF THE HOOD TO SAVE US A LITTLE BIT OF RUBBING. YOU WANT TO LAY DOWN ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE HEAVY COATS, MAKING SURE IT'S ALSO HEAVY IN THE AREAS THAT YOU'LL BE PEELING OFF. THE HEAVIER IT IS, THE EASIER IT IS TO REMOVE.
NOW WE CAN UNMASK AND PEEL THE PAINT OFF IN THE PLACE THAT WE DON'T WANT IT TO BE.
THIS IS WHAT OUR CADDY LOOKED LIKE BEFORE, THIS IS WHAT SHE LOOKS LIKE NOW. NOT BAD AT ALL!
(MARC)>> WHEN YOU'RE WORKING ON A HIGH HORSEPOWER CAR LIKE OUR '72 CHEVELLE HERE, THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS GOING ON UNDER THE HOOD, AND THINGS TAKE UP ROOM LIKE OUR INTERCOOLER PIPING AND ALL THAT AND MAY REQUIRE US TO MOVE THE BATTERY TO THE TRUNK, OR IF YOU'VE GOT A DRAG CAR YOUR SANCTIONING BODY MAY REQUIRE YOUR BATTERY BE MOVED TO THE TRUNK AS WELL. NOW THERE ARE SOME BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS TO DOING THAT, BUT THE BENEFITS ACTUALLY OUTWEIGH THE DRAWBACKS, AND FIRST OF ALL, IF YOU MOVE YOUR BATTERY TO THE TRUNK, WELL, MAY BE A BIT OF A PAIN TO GET IT THERE AND YOU HAVE TO RUN A BATTERY CABLE ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THAT CAN BE A HASSLE, BUT THE BENEFIT IS WITH THE BATTERY IN THE BACK YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT MOVING AROUND OR THINGS GETTING KNOCKED INTO IT, SHORTENED OUT. ANOTHER THING IS IF YOU DO GET IN AN ACCIDENT THE BATTERY'S OUT OF THE WAY AND YOU USUALLY HAVE A SWITCH BACK THERE. SO SOMEBODY CAN JUST TURN THAT SWITCH OFF TO PREVENT AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. NOW YOU MAY KNOW OR YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO ACTUALLY GET THAT BATTERY MOVED TO THE BACK. SO WE'RE GONNA SHOW YOU THAT TODAY. NOW ONCE YOU GET YOUR BATTERY TO THE TRUNK YOU NEED TO MOUNT IT, AND THAT'S WHERE THIS STUFF COMES IN. YOU CAN DO SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS THIS BASIC HOLD DOWN HERE WITH SOME ALL THREAD, AND SOME NUTS AND WASHERS, AND BOLT IT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR. IF YOU WANT TO GET FANCY YOU CAN GO TO SOMETHING LIKE THIS. THIS IS MADE OUT OF BILLET ALUMINUM. AS YOU CAN SEE, IT'S MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS OPTIMA BATTERY. NOW IT'S A LITTLE PRICEY BUT IT LOOKS REALLY NICE. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS THOUGH, THAT THAT'S NOT NHRA LEGAL, AND THAT'S WHERE THIS BOX COMES IN. THIS THING MOUNTS TO THE TRUNK AS WELL. YOU JUST HAVE TO DRILL A COUPLE OF HOLES WHERE YOU NEED THEM, BUT IT'S GOT THE HOLES FOR THE CABLES THAT GO THROUGH, AND IT EVEN COMES WITH ITS OWN LID. SOMETHING ELSE THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT OF COURSE IS GETTING THAT JUICE FROM THE TRUNK ALL THE WAY UP TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR, THAT'S WHERE THIS STUFF COMES IN. THIS IS ACTUALLY A 30 FOOT LENGTH OF ONE GAUGE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE. IT'S GOT THE TERMINAL HERE ON THE END. THIS THING GOES ALL THE WAY FROM THE POSITIVE POST OF THE BATTERY UP TO YOUR STARTER SOLENOID. WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT THIS IS IF YOU'RE IN AN ACCIDENT OR IF YOU'RE AT THE TRACK, IF IT'S ALREADY ON LIKE IT IS NOW, IF YOU'RE IN AN ACCIDENT SOMEBODY CAN JUST SIMPLY FLIP THE SWITCH AND THAT DISCONNECTS THE BATTERY. NOW YOU CAN GET EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO RELOCATE YOUR BATTERY TO THE TRUNK IN A COMPLETE KIT, WHICH IS THE WAY THIS BOX CAME, OR YOU CAN PIECE IT TOGETHER YOURSELF, AND YOU CAN EVEN MAKE YOUR OWN BOX IF YOU WANT TO.

NOW IF YOU'LL TAKE A LOOK AT THIS LEFT FRONT RAIL YOU'LL NOTICE THAT IT'S PUSHED IN QUITE A BIT. WELL OVER IF YOU WILL. NOW THIS IS PRETTY COMMON WHENEVER YOU'RE INVOLVED IN A FENDER BENDER, AND THE WAY THIS THING SITS RIGHT NOW IT'S A PRETTY BIG PROBLEM CAUSE YOU CAN'T MOUNT A BUMPER AND THE CORE SUPPORT ISN'T ANYWHERE CLOSE. WE'VE GOT A BIT OF BENDING AND PUSHING WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO DO, BUT I'M SURE WE CAN FIX IT. USUALLY WHENEVER YOU'RE MAKING A REPAIR LIKE THIS IT'S GONNA INVOLVE THE BIG FRAME MACHINE. NOW WE DON'T HAVE ONE OF THOSE BUT WE DO HAVE THIS COMPACT TOOL THAT CAN GET THE JOB DONE, AND IT'S PRETTY HANDY IF YOU'RE IN THE COLLISION SIDE OF THINGS. WHAT WE'RE GONNA BE USING IS THE AIROPOWER SYSTEM FROM EQUIPMENT GATEWAY, AND IF YOU'RE AN AUTO BODY TECHNICIAN THIS SETUP RIGHT HERE COULD REALLY BE YOUR FRIEND. THE HEART OF THIS SYSTEM IS THIS PIECE RIGHT HERE. NOW THIS IS A PNEUMATIC RAM THAT ALLOWS YOU TO PUSH AND PULL FIVE AND A QUARTER TONS. NOW YOU CAN CHANGE DIRECTION BY SIMPLY CHANGING THE SWITCH. IT'S GOT PANEL CLAMPS IF YOU NEED TO BE DOING A LITTLE BIT OF PULLING ON SOME PINCH WELDS OR SOME RUBBER FEET IF YOU NEED TO BE PUSHING ON SOMETHING LIKE A QUARTER PANEL. WELL THAT'S ENOUGH GABBING FOR NOW. LET'S GET TO MOVING SOME METAL. WE'VE CHOSEN A COUPLE OF ATTACHMENTS FOR THIS JOB. ALL OF THEM SCREW ON AND THERE ARE EXTENSIONS TO MAKE IT AS LONG AS IT NEEDS TO BE. SO WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO IS SET OUR END OF THE PUSHER UP HERE INSIDE THE FRAME BECAUSE IT'S RIGHT HERE AGAINST THIS CROSSMEMBER, AND THAT'S GONNA ADD SOME EXTRA SUPPORT AND THEN PUSH AGAINST THE FRONT SIDE OF THIS RAIL. YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO PUSH IT FROM RAIL TO RAIL BECAUSE YOU COULD ACTUALLY PUSH THIS RAIL BACK THAT WAY WHILE YOU'RE TRYING TO PUSH THIS ONE THAT WAY. NOW THEY HAVE THIS THERMIC BLACK COATING THAT HELPS IT CUT DOWN ON CORROSION, AND THEY'RE DIMPLED AND SLOTTED TO CUT DOWN ON YOUR BRAKE TEMPERATURES, AND IT ALSO HELPS TO PROMOTE EVEN PAD WEAR. FOR PADS WE'RE GOING WITH THE EBC YELLOW STUFF. NOW THIS IS KIND OF A DUAL PURPOSE PAD. IT CAN BE USED ON THE STREET AND ON THE TRACK. NOW THAT'S REALLY HANDY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE LAYING UNDER YOUR CAR IN A DARK DRIVEWAY. IT'S GOT A STRAW, AND OF COURSE YOU CAN FOLD IT DOWN AND USE JUST THE REGULAR NOZZLE HERE, AND IT EVEN LOCKS SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT MAKING A MESS. NOW IT'S PRETTY EASY TO TELL FROM LOOKING AT THE BACK END OF THIS OLD CAR THAT A MAJORITY OF IT, WELL IS A TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY, BACK UP LIGHT LENS, AND THAT MUSTACHE LOOKING THIRD BRAKE LIGHT. SO WHAT I WANT TO DO IS DARKEN THEM UP JUST A BIT SO THEY DON'T STAND OUT AS MUCH, AND THE WAY I PLAN TO DO THAT IS WITH NIGHT SHADES FROM VHT. IT'S A PRETTY SIMPLE PROCESS, AND I'LL SHOW YOU GUYS HOW TO DO IT. NOW THE FIRST STEP YOU CAN DO A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT WAYS. YOU CAN REMOVE THIS LENS ASSEMBLY FROM THE VEHICLE, OR YOU CAN JUST SIMPLY TAPE IT OFF, AND THAT'S WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO. LET ME GRAB SOME TAPE.
YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE TO TAPE IT OFF REALLY WELL AND GET IT IN THAT GROOVE CAUSE YOU DON'T WANT ANY OVERSPRAY.
THE NEXT STEP IS YOU WANT TO CLEAN IT WITH A WAX AND GREASE REMOVER, KIND OF LIKE THIS PREP SPRAY FROM DUPLICOLOR. YOU JUST SIMPLY SPRAY IT ON AND WIPE HER DOWN. ALL RIGHT, NOW IT'S TIME TO GET DOWN TO THE BUSINESS SIDE OF THINGS, AND WITH THIS STUFF YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU SHAKE THE CAN REALLY WELL CAUSE IT'S KIND OF LIKE A CANDY PAINT. IF YOU GO TO SPRAYING IT WITHOUT IT SHAKING UP, WELL YOU MAY NOTICE IT'S CLEARCLEAR, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT TURNS REALLY DARK, AND WITH THAT SAID THE MORE COATS YOU PUT ON, WELL THAT DARKER IT'S GONNA BE AS WELL. SO YOU DON'T REALLY WANT TO GO MUCH MORE THAN THREE COATS OR THE LIGHT MIGHT NOT SHINE THROUGH.
THE NUMBER OF COATS YOU CAN APPLY ALSO CAN BE DICTATED BY HEAVILY YOU APPLY THE PAINT. WE'RE GONNA GO LIGHT ON OURS BECAUSE IT'S EASIER TO GET IT THE WAY YOU WANT IT. THEY RECOMMEND 15 MINUTES BETWEEN COATS, AND AFTER THREE OF THEM WE'RE WHERE WE WANT TO BE. WELL THERE YOU GO. IT'S A SUBTLE TOUCH, AND I HAVE TO SAY IT DEFINITELY HELPED THE BACK SIDE OF THIS BIG BODY CADILLAC.

WE'LL BEGIN THE REMOVAL PROCESS WITH THIS PNEUMATIC ARM THAT BUTTS UP TO THE LIP OF THE WHEEL. THEN WE'LL PUSH THE BEAD DOWN AND LUBE IT UP.
NOW WE CAN INSERT THIS PRY BAR THAT FLIPS THE BEAD OVER THE RIM. WITH ALL THAT DONE, THE MACHINE CAN REMOVE THE UPPER BEAD.
THIS ARM WILL LIFT THE TIRE UP FOR US, WHILE WE SET THE ROLLER WE USED EARLIER TO REMOVE THE INNER BEAD.
NOW AS FOR RUBBER WE WENT TO CONTINENTAL AND GOT A SET OF THEIR EXTREME CONTACT SPORT TIRES. NOW THESE THINGS WILL GIVE YOU TREMENDOUS GRIP AND HANDLING WHETHER ROAD CONDITIONS ARE WET OR DRY, AND THEY ALSO HAVE GREAT TREAD WEAR. THEY ALSO HAVE QUICK VIEW TREAD WEAR INDICATORS, LIKE THIS D&W. THE "D" STANDS FOR "DRY" AND THE "W" FOR "WET". NOW AS THE TIRE GETS SOME MILES ON THEM, THESE WILL WEAR AWAY GIVING YOU AN INDICATION THAT YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR TIRES.
WELL WE GOT OUR TIRE ALL MOUNTED UP, AND IT'S TIME TO BALANCE IT. WE'RE GONNA BE USING THE CODE 1,600 THREED BALANCER. NOW I'M SURE A BUNCH OF YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN TO TIRE SHOP BEFORE AND SEE SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THIS WHERE THEY SPIN IT, HAMMER ON SOME WEIGHTS. WELL LET'S SHOW YOU WHAT'S ALL INVOLVED. FIRST STEP, MOVE THE ARM TO THE INBOARD WEIGHT LOCATION. THIS PART OF THE PROCESS BASICALLY TELLS THE MACHINE WHAT THE DIMENSIONS OF YOUR WHEEL ARE, AS WELL AS THE LOCATION OF YOUR WHEEL WEIGHTS AS NEEDED. WITH IT SETUP WE CAN LET HER SPIN AND TAKE THE MEASUREMENTS THAT IT NEEDS. NOW WHAT THIS THING JUST TOLD US, WE NEED POINT SEVENFIVE OF AN OUNCE HERE ON THE INBOARD AND TWO OUNCES ON THE OUTBOARD. EASY PEASEY! WE'LL GRAB THREE QUARTERS OF AN OUNCE WORTH OF WEIGHTS AND STICK THEM WHERE IT'S INDICATED ON THE INBOARD SIDE HERE. THEN WE'LL HAVE THE MACHINE LOCATE THE OUTBOARD WEIGHTS, WHERE WE'LL PUT TWO OUNCES. ONE MORE SPIN TO MAKE SURE WE'RE GOOD. WELL WE'RE AT ALL ZEROES, WE'RE GOOD TO GO. NOW WE'RE GONNA WIPE IT DOWN WITH A TACK CLOTH TO GET RID OF ANY LINT, THAT TYPE OF THING.
WE'RE GONNA DO A LITTLE BIT OF MASKING, BUT IT'S MAINLY FOR THE FINE OVERSPRAY. WE DON'T HAVE TO WASTE TIME DOING AN INTRICATE MASK JOB WITH THIS PRODUCT. IF YOU NOTICED, I'M NOT REALLY TAPING IT RIGHT UP AGAINST THE PIECE OF TRIM BECAUSE I WANT TO SHOW YOU HOW WELL THIS STUFF WORKS. NOW THIS IS JUST PRIMARILY DONE TO KEEP A MAJORITY OF THE OVERSPRAY OFF THE HOOD TO SAVE US A LITTLE BIT OF RUBBING. YOU WANT TO LAY DOWN ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE HEAVY COATS, MAKING SURE IT'S ALSO HEAVY IN THE AREAS THAT YOU'LL BE PEELING OFF. THE HEAVIER IT IS, THE EASIER IT IS TO REMOVE.
NOW WE CAN UNMASK AND PEEL THE PAINT OFF IN THE PLACE THAT WE DON'T WANT IT TO BE.

NOW THERE ARE SOME BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS TO DOING THAT, BUT THE BENEFITS ACTUALLY OUTWEIGH THE DRAWBACKS, AND FIRST OF ALL, IF YOU MOVE YOUR BATTERY TO THE TRUNK, WELL, MAY BE A BIT OF A PAIN TO GET IT THERE AND YOU HAVE TO RUN A BATTERY CABLE ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THAT CAN BE A HASSLE, BUT THE BENEFIT IS WITH THE BATTERY IN THE BACK YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT MOVING AROUND OR THINGS GETTING KNOCKED INTO IT, SHORTENED OUT. ANOTHER THING IS IF YOU DO GET IN AN ACCIDENT THE BATTERY'S OUT OF THE WAY AND YOU USUALLY HAVE A SWITCH BACK THERE. SO SOMEBODY CAN JUST TURN THAT SWITCH OFF TO PREVENT AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. NOW YOU MAY KNOW OR YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO ACTUALLY GET THAT BATTERY MOVED TO THE BACK. SO WE'RE GONNA SHOW YOU THAT TODAY. NOW ONCE YOU GET YOUR BATTERY TO THE TRUNK YOU NEED TO MOUNT IT, AND THAT'S WHERE THIS STUFF COMES IN. YOU CAN DO SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS THIS BASIC HOLD DOWN HERE WITH SOME ALL THREAD, AND SOME NUTS AND WASHERS, AND BOLT IT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR. IF YOU WANT TO GET FANCY YOU CAN GO TO SOMETHING LIKE THIS. THIS IS MADE OUT OF BILLET ALUMINUM. AS YOU CAN SEE, IT'S MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS OPTIMA BATTERY. NOW IT'S A LITTLE PRICEY BUT IT LOOKS REALLY NICE. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS THOUGH, THAT THAT'S NOT NHRA LEGAL, AND THAT'S WHERE THIS BOX COMES IN. THIS THING MOUNTS TO THE TRUNK AS WELL. YOU JUST HAVE TO DRILL A COUPLE OF HOLES WHERE YOU NEED THEM, BUT IT'S GOT THE HOLES FOR THE CABLES THAT GO THROUGH, AND IT EVEN COMES WITH ITS OWN LID. SOMETHING ELSE THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT OF COURSE IS GETTING THAT JUICE FROM THE TRUNK ALL THE WAY UP TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR, THAT'S WHERE THIS STUFF COMES IN. THIS IS ACTUALLY A 30 FOOT LENGTH OF ONE GAUGE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE. IT'S GOT THE TERMINAL HERE ON THE END. THIS THING GOES ALL THE WAY FROM THE POSITIVE POST OF THE BATTERY UP TO YOUR STARTER SOLENOID. THIS CABLE'S A LOT SHORTER BECAUSE THIS THING'S GONNA GO FROM THE NEGATIVE POST ON THE BATTERY TO EITHER A GROUND OR TO YOUR CUTOFF SWITCH. THAT SWITCH THAT I'M TALKING ABOUT IS THIS BATTERY CUTOFF SWITCH THAT WE GOT FROM SUMMIT RACING. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE INSTALLED FROM THE NEGATIVE POST ON YOUR BATTERY CABLE, WHICH COMES TO HERE, AND THEN BETWEEN HERE TO THE CHASSIS GROUND ON THE CAR. WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT THIS IS IF YOU'RE IN AN ACCIDENT OR IF YOU'RE AT THE TRACK, IF IT'S ALREADY ON LIKE IT IS NOW, IF YOU'RE IN AN ACCIDENT SOMEBODY CAN JUST SIMPLY FLIP THE SWITCH AND THAT DISCONNECTS THE BATTERY. NOW YOU CAN GET EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO RELOCATE YOUR BATTERY TO THE TRUNK IN A COMPLETE KIT, WHICH IS THE WAY THIS BOX CAME, OR YOU CAN PIECE IT TOGETHER YOURSELF, AND YOU CAN EVEN MAKE YOUR OWN BOX IF YOU WANT TO.

NOW THIS IS PRETTY COMMON WHENEVER YOU'RE INVOLVED IN A FENDER BENDER, AND THE WAY THIS THING SITS RIGHT NOW IT'S A PRETTY BIG PROBLEM CAUSE YOU CAN'T MOUNT A BUMPER AND THE CORE SUPPORT ISN'T ANYWHERE CLOSE. WE'VE GOT A BIT OF BENDING AND PUSHING WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO DO, BUT I'M SURE WE CAN FIX IT. USUALLY WHENEVER YOU'RE MAKING A REPAIR LIKE THIS IT'S GONNA INVOLVE THE BIG FRAME MACHINE. NOW WE DON'T HAVE ONE OF THOSE BUT WE DO HAVE THIS COMPACT TOOL THAT CAN GET THE JOB DONE, AND IT'S PRETTY HANDY IF YOU'RE IN THE COLLISION SIDE OF THINGS. WHAT WE'RE GONNA BE USING IS THE AIROPOWER SYSTEM FROM EQUIPMENT GATEWAY, AND IF YOU'RE AN AUTO BODY TECHNICIAN THIS SETUP RIGHT HERE COULD REALLY BE YOUR FRIEND. THE HEART OF THIS SYSTEM IS THIS PIECE RIGHT HERE. NOW THIS IS A PNEUMATIC RAM THAT ALLOWS YOU TO PUSH AND PULL FIVE AND A QUARTER TONS. NOW YOU CAN CHANGE DIRECTION BY SIMPLY CHANGING THE SWITCH. THIS THING IS EXTREMELY MODULAR AND HAS A MULTITUDE OF ATTACHMENTS THAT ALLOW YOU TO APPLY FORCE IN DOZENS OF DIFFERENT WAYS. IT'S GOT PANEL CLAMPS IF YOU NEED TO BE DOING A LITTLE BIT OF PULLING ON SOME PINCH WELDS OR SOME RUBBER FEET IF YOU NEED TO BE PUSHING ON SOMETHING LIKE A QUARTER PANEL. WELL THAT'S ENOUGH GABBING FOR NOW. LET'S GET TO MOVING SOME METAL. WE'VE CHOSEN A COUPLE OF ATTACHMENTS FOR THIS JOB. ALL OF THEM SCREW ON AND THERE ARE EXTENSIONS TO MAKE IT AS LONG AS IT NEEDS TO BE. SO WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO IS SET OUR END OF THE PUSHER UP HERE INSIDE THE FRAME BECAUSE IT'S RIGHT HERE AGAINST THIS CROSSMEMBER, AND THAT'S GONNA ADD SOME EXTRA SUPPORT AND THEN PUSH AGAINST THE FRONT SIDE OF THIS RAIL. YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO PUSH IT FROM RAIL TO RAIL BECAUSE YOU COULD ACTUALLY PUSH THIS RAIL BACK THAT WAY WHILE YOU'RE TRYING TO PUSH THIS ONE THAT WAY. NOW WE'RE GONNA USE THIS ELONGATED HOLE HERE TO KEEP EVERYTHING PUT WHILE WE DO OUR FIRST PUSH. NOW JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU DON'T CUT THROUGH THE FRAME.
