There's no question that Jeeps and buggies. They're a lot of fun.
We all love building. Come on, move that thing. Let's go. Come on faster, faster little truck coming through.
We all love building them.
We all love taking them out wheeling.
But there's a whole other group of people. They like to enjoy trails and backcountry just like we do.
But that group of people is a little bit different.
They have their fun in different vehicles. Vehicles that are often referred to
as power sport vehicles.
It all started with the dirt bike. It was basically a motorcycle that had off road tires and you could take it anywhere
except obviously deep sloppy mud.
The one drawback was that when you crashed it, it was usually you who took the brunt of the damage, not the bike.
Then along came the three wheeler or AC
when I was a kid. If you had a three wheeler, you were the coolest kid in the neighborhood,
more stable than a dirt bike and better in the mud.
But one drawback, high speed turns usually resulted in a pretty epic crash.
The A TV was next or four wheeler. A lot more stable, a lot safer and yes, a lot faster.
A TV S took over everything from trail riding to competitive racing.
The only drawback was if you want to take a friend with you,
they better be a good one.
Then through evolution, the power sports industry came up with the U TV or side by side
and one of the originators was the Yamaha
Rhino
powered by a 660 CC liquid cool engine
with locking differentials and independent front and rear suspension.
The U TV may have originally been thought of as the workhorse for the farmer ranch, but it quickly became a new option for the power sport fans and the side by side aftermarket was born.
Now we've been planning a side by side build up for a long time now, but we wanted it to be different than anything we'd ever built before and we wanted it to be very special. So for a while now, we've been working on the lock Tite Nominated Hero program. Today
it becomes a reality.
We use loctite products in just about everything we build.
And when we were given an opportunity to partner with them in building the lock tite ultimate U TV. We said sign us up,

Rhino 660 that we're gonna trick out with a pile of aftermarket parts. But before any new parts go on the old parts, they gotta come off.

I beat you my bl
with our Rhino finally tore down. We can begin to install some new parts and we're going to focus on engine performance first. Now, the first item we'll install is the dragon fire racing billet air cleaner assembly with the reusable filter element as well as one of their true dual exhaust kits. Now, this is a full stainless ST
exhaust. It's been completely tig well,
but the big news here is the performance gains we're gonna get from this complete system by installing the air cleaner, the dual exhaust and the high performance CD I, we're gonna get an extra nine horsepower at the rear wheels. That's a 36% increase over the Rhino stock 25.
The exhaust head pipes bolt up in the stock location.
Now, exhaust studs can see a lot of temperature change and often become seized to help prevent this. It's a good idea to use a little bit of anti seized compound on the threads.
The mufflers come next
with the new integrated brackets.
The air intake can be installed into the factory air box or like we're doing here. It simply bolts up to the carb elbow
while we're into the motor, we'll drain and refill the oil with some royal purple synthetic to keep the engine temps down and limit the amount of power loss due to engine drag
up next. Our side by side is treated to a competition clutch, long travel suspension and better stopping power because later it'll need it.
We are back on extreme, putting together a killer Rhino that's part of our new nominated hero program,
Rhinos and other side by sides use what's called a centrifugal clutch. When the engine revs a series of weights overcome spring pressure and engage the drive belt
similar to a snowmobile. It's important to keep the drive belt clean while you have the clutch assembly. Apart
this stage two clutch upgrade from dragon fire racing, not only changes the weights, it also changes the spring pressure in both our primary and secondary clutch, giving us a firmer engagement and more clamping power
to top off our performance upgrade. We're going to change the spark plug, installing a new E three with diamond fire technologies.
When you talk about performance suspensions for side by sides, you're going to use terms like six wider and plus one. Now, what those numbers refer to is the location of a lower ball joint and the spindle. You can see here when we compare the stock arm to our new Dragon fire racing lower arm, it's moved the ball joint location six inches further out and one inch further to the front. Now that gives better performance because it increases our wheel travel by moving the wheels pivot point further out, has more room to move up and down. Almost 13 inches of wheel travel with this system plus by moving it forward, gives us more room to steer. Now, our kit comes with everything we need and they're all fully tig welded pro Molly arms and new axles that will install onto the stock CV S.
The nice thing about a suspension system like this is anyone can install it just in their own driveway.
Everything bolts up in the stock location, reusing a pile of factory parts.
When you're planning performance upgrades, you have to think of the vehicle as an entire package being able to accelerate faster because of more horsepower or travel at a higher top speed because of an upgraded suspension all gets thrown out the window if you can't slow down for the first corner. So to help throw the anchor out on our Rhino, we're gonna upgrade the brakes, both front and rear with new rotors and pads from E BC brakes.
The new solid design rotors are drilled to assist in breaking pressure by allowing the brake dust and gas to escape from under the past.
The upgraded severe duty pads feature an organic carbon graphite friction materials designed to embed to the rotor quicker.
We've used pitbull tires on a pile of our projects and we're really happy with how they work off road. Most recently, they've jumped into the power sports market with a series of tires for a TV. S and U TV. S called the Rocker extreme off Road Radio. Now, this tire has been getting rave reviews mainly because of their tread design.
The tall tread blocks act almost like paddle tires when you're in the dirt. But the design of the blocks as well as the void ratios in them really help the tire work well. When you're crawling on the rocks. Now, we're going to install a set of 25 5 eights up front 25 5 tens in the back. All on dragon fire racing. Aluminum bead locks,

crippler bead Locks are built by allied racing similar to the full size allied bead locks only they look like they were washed in hot water and trunks. A full aluminum wheel with integrated bead lock rings
in order to finish up our suspension system, we need to install some new coil over shots. Now, we're gonna be using Fox Racing's two
inch piggyback reservoir shots on our Rhino. And the nice thing about this setup is Fox and Dragon Fire. They've done all the hard work for you. They've done some extensive testing with the Rhinos to come up with the ideal sh
stack and spring rate to give you the best
performance. Now, the shocks have a 16 millimeter main shaft and seven inches of travel. They come preloaded with an IB
coal spring and the external piggyback reservoir not only holds more fluid, it also helps dissipate the heat out of that fluid because it's separate from the shock that'll keep the shock running cooler, keep it performing better
and bolt up stock locations.
One cool thing about partnering with a company like lock tite on a giveaway is you get your hands on a lot of cool new products like this new 249 thread locking tape.
It has the same holding power as the liquid, but it won't drip off.
That means you can pre apply it to your fasters, store them for later use
or use them right away.
Today, we're putting together our ultimate U TV as part of our lock tape nominated hero giveaway. And so far we've installed our long travel suspension and coil over shocks and we've even thrown some performance modifications at the engine and now just like a cherry on top of a Sunday, a few little odds and ends are going to finish this U TV out. We're going to start with a warn U TV specific winch and a couple sets of their new off road lights.
Now, these have a rather unique wireless remote to turn them on and off. So you don't need a amount of switch inside the cap. A new U TV, specific high lift jack, it's just like a standard high lift, except it's only 3 ft long, making it easy to stow inside a U TV. But best of all still has the power to lift it off, something if it's stuck or in case you have to change a tire and sitting behind the wheel, we're gonna install a brand new rampage steering wheel and hub adapter.
Now, whether you choose to wear a helmet when driving the U TV is kind of up to you, but it definitely is gonna be safer. So we're gonna include four of these new dirt bike style helmets that we got from summit racing. Now, one downfall to wearing a helmet when you're out on a trail, a side by side is it's hard to have a conversation with everybody else in the vehicle, especially the people in the back seat. So we're gonna solve that problem by installing rugged radios, four helmet communication system. It's going to have earpieces and microphones that mount inside the helmet that go into bulkhead connectors and all head back to this one main junction block. You can adjust the volume of each helmet as well as the voice activation level. And the best part is there's a port in the front to plug in an MP3 player. So when you're out on the trail, everyone can enjoy some tunes.
Installing this system is truly plug and play.
But having this kind of convenience on the trail doesn't come cheap. This whole package here has about 800 bucks.
The plan from the very beginning has been to turn this Rhino into a four seater when we bought it, it already had this aftermarket rear cage kit. We wired out four helmets for intercom. All we need now are some seats. So we're gonna be installing Mastercraft suspension seats all the way around up front. A couple of buckets that have the same technology of the full size suspension seats. You've seen us install in our rigs with the all steel welded frame and the parachute cord draped in between to take the shocks out of the load when you're coming off some sick jumps and you're tricked out
U TV. Now in the back, it's a full bench that bolts in with a bracket kit to mount into the bed and we ordered it obviously with lock tight, red and black now to tie in with the safety features, we're gonna be installing Mastercraft fourpoint belts with a competition style latch that'll keep everyone buckled in. Nice and safe in this fully tricked out TV.
And the last little piece of this puzzle is gonna be this headrest cover that Mastercraft made for us with the lock tight logo stitch right in place fits over the factory headrest.
We're not done with our side by side just yet. After some paint and a graphic wrap, Ian and Chris will hit the track.

The performance upgrades really make this little side by side fun, especially in two wheel drive.
The pit bull tires handle the loose dirt of the racetrack easily,
but also really show their rock crawling heritage when we put this truck into low range, lock up the axles and do some crawling.
Now, you can crawl all day in your Rhino and just go down one or two trails.
But it's in the open areas where this rhino really sharpens its horns
all in all. Whoever earns this U TV. In our contest will have a great buggy
that can handle some serious terrain.
Plus all the lock tite, they need to keep this Rhino from losing its nuts.
