(NARRATOR)>> WHEN YOU'RE BUILDING A RIG DESIGNED FOR MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE ON AND OFF ROAD IT ALL BEGINS WITH THOSE FOUR CONTACT PATCHES. TODAY ON XTREME OFF ROAD OUR DUAL PURPOSE TACOMA GETS DUAL PURPOSE TIRES. PLUS FIBERGLASS PRERUNNER PANELS, RACE READY BYPASS SHOCKS, BRAKE UPGRADES, LED LIGHTING, AND MORE!
(IAN)>> TODAY WE'RE BACK ON OUR TOYOTA TACOMA BF GOODRICH TIRES GIVEAWAY PRERUNNER PROJECT. NOW WE'RE AT THE POINT IN THE BUILD WHERE IT'S TIME TO TEST FIT SOME TIRES AND WHEELS ON OUR MOCKED UP SUSPENSION JUST TO CHECK FOR CLEARANCE. NOW WE KNOW THAT WE'RE GONNA BE INSTALLING BF GOODRICH TIRES ON THIS TRUCK BUT I'M NOT QUITE SURE WHICH ONES. NOW ON BF GOODRICH TIRES DOT COM YOU CAN NOT ONLY RESEARCH DIFFERENT TIRE OPTIONS FOR YOUR PROJECT, YOU CAN PURCHASE THEM DIRECTLY. ONCE YOU'VE CHOSEN THE TIRE YOU WANT, SIMPLY ADD THEM TO YOUR CART AND YOU WILL GET AN ALL IN PRICE INCLUDING INSTALLATION ON YOUR VEHICLE. YOU THEN SIMPLY CHOOSE A LOCAL TIRE SHOP AND SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR INSTALLATION ON YOUR TRUCK. FOR US OUR TACOMA'S UP ON THE LIFT. SO WE'RE JUST TAKING OUR WHEELS TO THE SHOP TO HAVE THEM INSTALLED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO ARRANGE A RIDE. HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE HERE IN LIKE TWO MINUTES. HE'S GOT FOUR STARS. HIS NAME'S BRIAN. PRETTY GOOD NAME, BRIAN. PRETTY RESPONSIBLE DRIVER I THINK.
BRIAN?
(BRIAN)>> IAN?
(IAN)>> RIGHT ON!
(BRIAN)>> I'M YOUR RIDE.
(IAN)>> ALL RIGHT, LET ME LOAD UP MY WHEELS IN YOUR TRUNK. WE ARE JOKING OF COURSE. BRIAN FINCH DOES NOT DRIVE FOR A RIDE SHARING PROGRAM. TOO BAD THOUGH CAUSE IT WOULD BE WELL WORTH THE COST JUST TO GET A RIDE IN ONE OF HIS HAND MADE MACHINES. BRIAN IS PART OF THE BF GOODRICH PERFORMANCE TEAM. HE IS BEST KNOWN FOR HIS TIME ON AUTO CROSS COURSES AND ROAD RACE COURSES, BUT BF GOODRICH LIKES TO EXPOSE THEIR DRIVERS TO ALL SORTS OF DRIVING DISCIPLINES.
(BRIAN)>> I WAS ACTUALLY ONE OF THE TEAM MEMBERS THAT GOT TO TAKE THE BRAND NEW KO TWO TIRE BEFORE IT WAS LAUNCHED, PUT IT ON SOME BUGGIES, RUN THE ENTIRE BAJA 1,000 ON ONE SET OF TIRES, WIN OUR CLASS, AND PUT BAJA CHAMPION ON THE SIDE OF THAT TIRE.
(IAN)>> BRIAN HAS, AS THEY SAY, SEEN THE LIGHT WHEN IT COMES TO SPENDING TIME IN THE DIRT.
(BRIAN)>> JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH IT FROM THE VERY FIRST TIME. I MEAN THE DIRT GETS IN YOUR BLOOD AND ALL YOU WANT IS MORE AND MORE OF IT. ONE OF THE THINGS I LIKE ABOUT BAJA IS THAT NO TWO CORNERS ARE THE SAME. YOU CAN GO OUT ONTO THE BEST ROAD COURSE IN THE WORLD, 16, 17, 20 TURNS. ONCE YOU'VE DONE IT THREE OR FOUR TIMES IT'S JUST THE SAME THING, RINSE AND REPEAT. I LOVE BAJA BECAUSE IT'S JUST NO TWO CORNERS ARE THE SAME AND YOU GET ALL THAT SEAT TIME.
(IAN)>> TODAY BRIAN'S GIVING US A RIDE TO OUR LOCAL BF GOODRICH DEALER, WHERE I HAD OUR KO TWO TIRES SHIPPED TO AND WE ARE RIDING IN STYLE. TIRE SHOP! SIMPSON'S AUTO REPAIR IS JUST A FEW MILES FROM THE XOR SHOP. A FULL SERVICE GARAGE THAT'S PARTICIPATING IN THE NEW BF GOODRICH ONLINE PROGRAM.
(BRIAN)>> THE ECOMMERCE SITE IS A WAY FOR THE CONSUMER TO GO OUT THERE, DO THEIR RESEARCH, FIND THE TIRES THAT THEY WANT, AND IN ONE SPOT SELECT THE TIRES, PURCHASE THE TIRES, PAY FOR THE MOUNTING, BALANCING, AND HAVE THEM DELIVERED TO A DEALER THAT THEY CAN CHOOSE FROM ON THE WEBSITE, AND IT TAKES ALL THE HASSLES OUT OF BUYING TIRES.
(IAN)>> BECAUSE WE HAD MADE OUR APPOINTMENT ONLINE THERE WAS NO WAITING AND OUR TIRES WERE MOUNTED UP RIGHT AWAY AND WE'RE HEADING BACK TO THE SHOP.
BRIAN HAD TO HEAD BACK TO HIS SHOP TO WORK ON A FEW ASPHALT KILLING CARS. WE NEED TO JUMP BACK ON OUR TOYOTA TACOMA SO WE CAN HEAD AND KILL SOME DIRT. NOW IF YOU GUYS REMEMBER, THE LAST TIME WE WORKED ON THIS TRUCK WE LEFT OUR TOTAL CHAOS FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM JUST MOCKED UP INTO PLACE, READY TO TEST FIT SOME WHEELS AND TIRES. NOW THAT WE HAVE THEM IT'S TIME TO THROW THEM ON.
[ drill spinning ]
(IAN)>> THIS IS WHY IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO TEST FIT A SET OF WHEELS AND TIRES WHEN YOU'RE BUILDING A RIG WITH A FULL BODY ON IT. YOU CAN SEE NOW HOW MUCH FURTHER THE TIRE AND WHEEL PACKAGE IS OUT FROM THE FACTORY BODY. INCREASING THAT TRACK WIDTH HAS PUSHED OUR TIRE AND WHEEL WELL OUTSIDE OF THE FACTORY WHEEL OPENING. NOW EVEN WITH THE SUSPENSION FULLY COMPRESSED ON THE BUMP STOP I DO HAVE CLEARANCE AT THE TOP OF THE TIRE AND IT CAN ROTATE. IF WE WERE BUILDING WHAT IS OFTEN REFERRED TO AS A BRO TRUCK, THIS IS ACCEPTABLE TIRE AND WHEEL FITMENT, BUT WE'RE NOT. WE'RE BUILDING A PRERUNNER. SO WE NEED TO ADD A SET OF FIBERGLASS FENDERS TO COVER THESE TIRES AND WHEELS. THE BIGGER ISSUE IS RIGHT HERE. WHEN THE TIRE TURNS YOU CAN SEE IT'S CONTACTING OUR FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY. NOW THAT LEAVES US WITH TWO OPTIONS. OPTION ONE, COMPLETELY RIP THAT ENTIRE FRONT BUMPER OFF AND BUILD A TUBE BUMPER. OPTION TWO, JUST TRIM IT TO GIVE US THE CLEARANCE THAT WE NEED. NOW I REALLY CAN'T MAKE THAT DECISION UNTIL THE FIBERGLASS FENDER HAS REPLACED THE STOCK FENDER, AND WE'LL SEE HOW IT INTERACTS WITH THAT FRONT BUMPER. LOOK AT THAT, SUPER DROOP! TO PREP OUR TACOMA FOR FIBERGLASS FENDERS WE NEED TO STRIP DOWN THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK. EVERYTHING FROM THE FLARES, TO THE INNER FENDER, THE GRILL, AND THE HEADLIGHTS.
TADA! AND NOW OUR TRUCK IS READY FOR SOME NEW FENDERS.
(NARRATOR)>> IF IT'S GONNA BE A PRERUNNER IT'S GOT TO LOOK LIKE ONE. CHECK OUT THOSE LINES, AND HIGH PERFORMANCE BYPASS SHOCKS FOR 13 INCHES OF WHEEL TRAVEL.
(IAN)>> WHENEVER YOU SEE A PRERUNNER, YOU USUALLY SEE THEM ROLLING AROUND WITH BRIGHT WHITE FENDERS AND BRIGHT WHITE BED SIDES, AND THAT'S BECAUSE THEY ARE AFTERMARKET FIBERGLASS PANELS. NOW THE REASON YOU NEED THOSE PANELS IS NOW PRETTY OBVIOUS BECAUSE THEY ARE DESIGNED WITH BULGES IN THEM TO GIVE US MORE ROOM FOR OUR TIRE AND WHEEL PACKAGE. NOW FIBERGLASS USED TO GET KIND OF A BAD NAME BECAUSE IT WAS A NIGHTMARE TO FIT UP WITH YOUR TRUCK, BUT MCNEIL RACING HAS CHANGED THAT. THEY'VE SPENT A LOT OF TIME ENSURING THAT FIBERGLASS PANELS THAT THEY MAKE WILL BOLT ON IN THE FACTORY LOCATIONS. NOW WE GOT AN EXTRA WIDE BULGE FOR THE FRONT AS WELL AS TWO NEW BED SIDES FOR THE BACK. NOW THEY OFFER A COUPLE OF OPTIONS ON THEIR BED SIDES. I DECIDED TO JUST GO WITH A FLAT TOP, ALMOST LIKE A STOCK BED SIDE, BUT THEY DO OFFER WHAT'S CALLED A TROPHY TRUCK BED, AND THAT HAS A HIGH ARC ON THE TOP OF THE BED. NOW THE TROPHY TRUCKS HAVE THAT BECAUSE THE TIRE MOVES SO MUCH IN A TRUE DESERT RACING TRUCK THAT IT'LL ACTUALLY GO INSIDE THE BEDSIDE AND ALL THE WAY UP ABOVE THE BED RAIL. WE DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH WHEEL TRAVEL. SO BY STAYING WITH A FLAT TOP THE FUTURE OWNER OF THIS TRUCK WILL BE ABLE TO PUT ITEMS ON THE BACK OF THE TRUCK LIKE MAYBE A BED RACK, OR A CAMPER SHELL IF THEY EVER WANTED TO.
WITH THE FENDERS TEST FIT ONTO THE TRUCK, THE FACTORY MOUNTING HOLES ARE MARKED ONTO THE FIBERGLASS. HOLES ARE THEN DRILLED USING A STEP BIT.
REALLY GOOD NOW, LOOK AT THAT? THE FENDERS CAN THEN SIMPLY BOLT RIGHT BACK ONTO THE TRUCK. LOOK AT THAT, THAT FITS GOOD! THE FRONT TIRE IS THEN REINSTALLED, SUSPENSION COMPRESSED, AND THE CLEARANCE IS CHECKED. OH, ON THE BUMP. THE FRONT LOWER BUMPER VALENCE CAN THEN BE TRIMMED TO FIT AND SANDED SMOOTH. [ grinder spinning ]
(IAN)>> IT'S CLOSE!
THE BED SIDES ARE JUST AS EASY BECAUSE THE TOYOTA BED BOLTS TOGETHER INSTEAD OF BEING WELDED TOGETHER LIKE MOST PICK UP TRUCKS. WITH THE BED SIDE UNBOLTED, IT'S REMOVED AND THE NEW MCNEIL RACING FIBERGLASS BED SIDE IS DROPPED ON.
BEFORE DETERMINING THE EXACT LOCATION THE BED IS DROPPED BACK ON TO OUR TRUCK'S FRAME.
YOU CAN ORDER THE FIBERGLASS BED SIDES FROM MCNEIL RACING FOR THE TACOMA IN TWO DIFFERENT WAYS. FIRST OF ALL WITHOUT A FUEL FILLER DOOR. NOW THAT WOULD BE IF YOU'RE BUILDING A TRUE RACE TRUCK, PUTTING A FUEL CELL IN THE BED. I'M BUILDING A HARDCORE PRERUNNER THAT YOU WANT TO DRIVE EVERY DAY. SO I HAD THEM PUT THE FUEL DOOR OPENING IN PLACE. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS REMOVE A COUPLE OF ITEMS FROM THE STOCK BED SIDE AND IT WILL BOLT RIGHT INTO PLACE, AND YOU'LL HAVE A FACTORY STYLE FUEL DOOR ON YOUR HARDCORE OFF ROAD PRERUNNER. NOW THE BED IS SITTING IN PLACE AND SITTING GOOD. I LIKE HOW IT'S TUCKED INTO BEHIND THE FACTORY BUMPER. I'VE GOT GOOD LINES UP HERE AT THE CAB. SO THE NEXT THING WE NEED TO TACKLE IS TO FINISH UP THE SUSPENSION THAT'S JUST BEEN MOCKED INTO PLACE. FOR THAT WE NEED SOME SHOCKS.
(NARRATOR)>> UP NEXT A SET OF TUNABLE COIL OVERS DIALED IN FOR THE PERFECT RIDE. PLUS ROTOR AND PAD UPGRADES GIVE US SERIOUS STOPPING POWER.
(IAN)>> THE KEY TO BEING ABLE TO DRIVE YOUR PRERUNNER AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED OVER ROUGH TERRAIN ALL BOILS DOWN TO THE SUSPENSION AND THE SHOCKS. NOW THE CREW AT TOTAL CHAOS FABRICATION WORKS WITH THE GUYS AT FOX RACING SHOCKS TO PUT TOGETHER A PACKAGE SPECIFIC FOR OUR TACOMA. NOW IT STARTS UP FRONT WITH THE TOYOTA TACOMA SPECIFIC COIL OVER PRELOADED WITH A SPECIFIC SPRING RATE, AND THEN WE CHOSE THE OPTIONAL THREE TUBE BYPASS UPGRADE. NOW ONE ADDITIONAL UPGRADE THAT WE DID CHOOSE WAS THE DSC VALVING CLICKERS ON THE TOP OF THE RESERVOIR. NOW THAT ALLOWS US TO ADJUST THE HIGH AND LOW SPEED COMPRESSION OF OUR COIL OVER SHOCK, JUST GIVING US THE ULTIMATE IN TUNEABILITY IN THE FRONT END OF OUR TRUCK. THE SHOCKS ARE TWO AND A HALF INCH BODIES WITH JUST UNDER EIGHT INCHES OF TRAVEL. WELL THAT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE A LOT, BUT BY BEING INSTALLED IN THE CENTER OF THE TOTAL CHAOS LOWER ARM THEY WILL ACHIEVE OUR 13 INCHES OF WHEEL TRAVEL UP FRONT. [ welder crackling ]
(IAN)>> THE BYPASS, ALSO A TWO AND A HALF INCH BODY SHOCK, WITH TWO COMPRESSION ADJUSTOR TUBES AND ONE REBOUND. BOTH SHOCKS ARE EQUIPPED WITH SEVENEIGHTHS INCH SHOCK SHAFTS, CUSTOM VALVING SPECIFIC TO THE TOTAL CHAOS KIT, AND HALF INCH SPHERICAL ROD ENDS. [ drilling spinning ]
(IAN)>> SINCE WE MADE THIS TRUCK ABLE TO HANDLE OFF ROAD OBSTACLES FASTER, WE NEED TO MAKE IT STOP QUICKER. THAT MEANS AN UPGRADE TO THE FRONT END WITH A SET OF EBC ROTORS AND PADS. DIMPLED AND SLOTTED WITH A NITROTHERM COATING, THE EBC SPORT ROTORS ARE DESIGNED TO RUN COOLER, AND WHEN COUPLED WITH THE 6,000 SERIES GREEN STUFF PADS, IT WILL IMPROVE BRAKING AND NOT SUFFER ANY FALL OFF OR BRAKE FADE.
OUT BACK WE ALSO HAVE A FOX RACING SHOCKS TWO TUBE BYPASS WITH ONE COMPRESSION AND ONE REBOUND ADJUSTOR TO CONTROL THE DEVER LEAF SPRINGS. THE COOL THING ABOUT THE REAR IS THAT IT IS 100 PERCENT INSTALLED UNDER THE FACTORY BED. THE REAR SHOCK MOUNTS NEED TO BE MODIFIED TO FIT THE CURRIE AXLE HOUSING... [ welder crackling ] ...AND WITH THE REAR SUSPENSION COMPRESSED SLIGHTLY, THE REAR 16 INCH LIMIT STRAP CAN BE INSTALLED. [ welder crackling ]
(IAN)>> THERE IT IS! [ drill spinning ]
(IAN)>> AND NOW THAT OUR SUSPENSION IS COMPLETED, THE BF GOODRICH TIRES CAN GO ON FOR GOOD, AND THE TRUCK CAN BE LOWERED ONTO THE GROUND.
(NARRATOR)>> UP NEXT A CUSTOM BUILT REMOVABLE TIRE CARRIER, AND RUGGED, RELIABLE LED LIGHTING.
(IAN)>> THERE ARE A FEW STAPLES THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS SEE WHEN YOU'RE BUILDING A PRERUNNER. YOU'RE GONNA HAVE LONG TRAVEL SUSPENSION, FIBERGLASS BODY PANELS, AND TWO SPARE TIRES MOUNTED IN THE BED. NOW IN A TRUE RACE TRUCK THEY'RE ACTUALLY HUNG OUT OF THE BED OVER THE REAR BUMPER. NOW THAT'S TO MAKE THEM EASY TO GET TO DURING A RACE, BUT ALSO TO MOVE SOME OF THE WEIGHT BIAS BEHIND THE REAR AXLE. SINCE I'M BUILDING A DUAL PURPOSE TRUCK, I'M GONNA GO AHEAD AND MOUNT MY TWO SPARE TIRES RIGHT UP BEHIND THE CAB. THAT WAY I STILL HAVE FUNCTIONALITY OF TWO SPARE TIRES AND THE LOOK OF THE PRERUNNER WITH A WHOLE BUNCH OF USEABLE BED SPACE OUT BACK. I WANT THE TIRE CAGE TO BE REMOVABLE. SO I'M GOING TO MAKE ANCHOR TUBES THAT ATTACH TO THE FRONT BED MOUNTS.
A CROSS TUBE JOINS THESE TWO ANCHOR TUBES TOGETHER. THIS IS THE BASE FOR OUR TIRE CARRIER. A COUPLE OF 90 DEGREE TUBES WILL LOCK BOTH TIRES INTO PLACE BUT STILL ALLOW THEM TO BE EASILY ROLLED OUT OF THE BED. TO KEEP THE TIRES SECURE A SET OF MAX CUSTOM TIE DOWN TIRE STRAPS ARE USED. THESE CAN BE CUSTOM MADE TO FIT ANY SIZE TIRE OR ATTACHMENT DESIGN THAT YOU CAN DREAM UP. I HAD OURS DONE IN BF GOODRICH RED. NOW I'VE BUILT A FEW OF THESE TWO TIRE CARRIER RACKS IN THE BEDS OF PICK UP TRUCKS, AND I'VE LEARNED A LITTLE BIT EVERY SINGLE TIME. THE BIGGEST THING THAT I'VE LEARNED IS LEAVE THE CENTER OPEN. THAT WAY YOU CAN STILL SEE BEHIND YOU ON THE REARVIEW MIRROR UP ON THE WINDSHIELD. IT ALSO GIVES YOU A PERFECT SPOT TO PUT EITHER A COOLER, OR IN THIS CASE I'M GONNA MOUNT THIS ARB FRIDGE/FREEZER, WHICH WILL KEEP ALL YOUR DRINKS COLD WHEN YOU'RE OUT ON THE TRAIL. ALSO IT'S 100 PERCENT REMOVABLE. FOUR BOLTS AND IT'S OUT. THAT WAY IF THE FUTURE OWNER OF THIS TRUCK WANTS TO PULL IT OUT FOR WHATEVER REASON HE CAN. IT ALSO MAKES IT EASIER FOR ME TO FINISH WELD IT, AND OF COURSE NO REAL OFF ROAD PRERUNNER IS COMPLETE WITHOUT SERIOUS OFF ROAD LIGHTING. SO THIS RIG IS GETTING A SET OF RIGID QSERIES LED LIGHT CUBES. WITH A 50,000 PLUS HOUR LIFE SPAN, THESE 90 WATT LIGHTS DRAW LESS THAN SEVEN AMPS WHILE PROVIDING 9,000 RAW LUMENS AND A BEAM DISTANCE OF OVER 1,200 FEET, AND THE LAST ITEM WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF WITH THIS TRUCK BEFORE IT'S READY TO HIT THE DIRT IS A FULL VEHICLE WRAP BECAUSE THE FIBERGLASS LOOKS COOL, BUT IT'LL LOOK COOLER ONCE IT'S COLOR MATCHED TO THE TRUCK.
WHEN YOU'RE BUILDING OR TUNING ON THE FRONT SUSPENSION ON YOUR RIG YOU'RE GONNA DEAL WITH THREE KEY ALIGNMENT ANGLES. THE FIRST IS YOUR CASTOR ANGLE. NOW CASTOR IS THE COMPARISON OF TRUE VERTICAL, THAT'S THIS GREEN LINE, AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO THE PIVOT POINTS IN THE SUSPENSION, THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINT. NOW YOU ADJUST CASTOR ON AN AARM VEHICLE BY ACTUALLY MOVING THE LOCATION OF THE UPPER AARM IN THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM. IN THE SOLID AXLE CAR YOU'RE TWISTING THE WHOLE AXLE EITHER BACKWARDS OR FORWARDS. I LIKE TO RUN BETWEEN FIVE AND SEVEN DEGREES OF POSITIVE CASTOR. NOW THAT MEANS THAT THE PIVOT POINTS ARE LEANING BACK TOWARDS THE DRIVER. CASTOR HELPS THE TIRES SELF CENTER AFTER A TURN, AND ALSO HELPS THE VEHICLE TRACK GOOD AND STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD, AND IF YOU'RE FIGHTING DEATH WOBBLE ON YOUR RIG YOUR PROBLEM IS PROBABLY WITH YOUR CASTOR ANGLE BECAUSE AS YOU LIFTED THE SUSPENSION THERE IS A CHANCE THAT YOUR PIVOT POINTS EITHER WENT TO TRUE VERTICAL OR ZERO, OR EVEN WENT INTO A NEGATIVE CASTOR TERRITORY. THAT CAUSES THE TIRES AND WHEELS TO SHAKE. THE NEXT ANGLE IS CAMBER. NOW ONCE AGAIN WE'RE COMPARING IT TO TRUE VERTICAL, AND WE'RE COMPARING WHETHER OR NOT THE TIRE IS LEANED IN, WHICH IS NEGATIVE CAMBER, OR LEANED OUT, POSITIVE CAMBER. ON AN AARM VEHICLE WE CAN EASILY ADJUST THAT BY MOVING THE LOWER ARM EITHER FURTHER IN OR FURTHER OUT, AND CAUSING THE TIRE TO TILT. ON A SOLID AXLE RIG THERE'S NOT A LOT OF ADJUSTMENT IN THE CAMBER BECAUSE THE BALL JOINTS ARE MOUNTED ONTO THAT INNERC. YOU WILL SEE SOME ROAD RACE GUYS PLAY WITH CAMBER A LOT. THAT'S WHILE YOU'LL SEE THOSE CARS WITH THE TIRES PITCHED IN AT THE TOP, OR SITTING WITH NEGATIVE CAMBER WHEN STATIC OR DRIVING STRAIGHT. THAT'S BECAUSE WHEN THEY'RE TURNING INTO A CORNER THE BODY ROLL ACTUALLY CAUSES THAT TIRE TO STAND UP BACK TO ZERO DEGREES CAMBER, GIVING THEM THE ULTIMATE CONTACT PATCH ON THE ROAD. OUR MAIN GOAL IS JUST TO STAY AT ZERO DEGREES CAMBER THROUGH THE ENTIRE SUSPENSION CYCLE. THE LAST ALIGNMENT ANGLE IS TOE. NOW AT THIS POINT WE'RE LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE FROM THE TOP AND THESE ARE OUR TWO TIRES, THIS IS THE FRONT. IF THE TIRES ARE POINTED TOWARDS EACH OTHER THEY'RE TOEDIN. IF THEY'RE POINTED OUT, THEY'RE TOEDOUT. IF YOU'RE DRIVING ON THE STREET, YOU PROBABLY WANT TO RUN AT ABOUT ZERO TOE. THAT MEANS THE TIRES WILL JUST WEAR EVENLY AND HEAD STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. IF YOU'RE DEALING WITH AN OFF ROAD CAR A LOT OF ULTRA FOUR GUYS HAVE HAD LUCK WITH A SOLID AXLE SUSPENSION GIVING THEMSELVES A LITTLE BIT OF TOE OUT. ABOUT AN INCH, MAYBE TWO. JUST SORT OF HELPS THE VEHICLE TRACK STRAIGHT THROUGH ROUGH TERRAIN.
