Which State Attracts The Most Sports Cars?
Who isn’t impressed by sports cars? They’re lean, high-performance vehicles that make their presence known whether they’re flying down the strip, or parked outside a restaurant. Of course, the overall cost and practical use of a sports car as a daily driver can be a big deterrent for your average driver, as they are owned by only 2.8% of Americans.
According to data compiled by iSeeCars, which analyzed over 10 million vehicle sales, what is the most popular sports car and which U.S. state could we expect to see them the most?
According to the data, Nevada placed first with 4.0%, which could be explained by the lure of Las Vegas and its flat valleys, despite being the most mountainous state in the country. Florida and California tie for second and third at 3.8% for also having warm/moderate climates, active metropolitan areas, as well as popular nightlife communities. The states that are the least popular with sports car owners are found in the North, Rocky Mountains, and the Midwest where winters are typically intense.

As far as the most popular sports cars in the U.S., the Ford Mustang ranked first in 40 states, followed by the Dodge Challenger in the remaining 10 states. Both the Mustang and the Challenger also happen to be some of the most affordable, with some new trims being available for less than $30,000, contributing to their appeal. But the Dodge Challenger is one of very few sports cars available in four-wheel drive and is mostly popular among Northern states.
