Watch A Tesla Model 3 Take On A Ford Mustang GT500 At The Drag Strip

Who’s your money on?

It’s becoming more common for Teslas to impress at the track. You just can’t argue with their torque. However, a lot of gearheads are still wary of the all-electric vehicles and stick with the gas guzzlers.

In this matchup, a Tesla Model 3 takes on Ford’s quickest production car ever built – the GT500. To help make comparisons, the GT500 is powered by a supercharged V8 and puts out 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque. The car can hit 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and with a quarter-mile time of under 11 seconds. The GT500 starts out around $74,000.

On the other hand, the Model 3 puts out around 450 horsepower and 471 lb-ft of torque with a 3.2-second 0 to 60 mph time. The Model 3 can also run a 1/4 mile in the low 11s. However, the Model 3 will cost you significantly less, starting at $54,990.

So on paper, this is a relatively fair matchup although there isn’t much detail on how new these two particular vehicles are or what mods have been done. Aside from not knowing if these vehicles are stock or modified, there are other factors to consider including driver skill, tires, track conditions, etc.
