The IndyCar Grand Prix Is Coming To Nashville With Unique Street Course

IndyCar

The IndyCar Series Grand Prix race is coming to Nashville in 2021 with a unique track featuring a bridge. The course has a straightaway across the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge over the Cumberland River, then winds through downtown and loops back across the bridge to Nissan Stadium. Additionally, the bridge double-straight has a pedestrian bridge for fans to cross over, or even watch the race from.

This marks the first new street course on the Indycar calendar since 2013’s Belle Isle Grand Prix revival. The course is 2.17-miles long and will be the only IndyCar road race to cross a major body of water. It also will feature 11 turns and other straightaways and already has gotten the attention of some of the sport’s top drivers.

The initial deal with the city of Nashville and the owners of the Titans stadium is guaranteed for at least three years but both city and Indycar officials have said they hope it extends beyond that. Along with the race, there will be food and entertainment provided over the three day period. Fans will be able to meet drivers before the race and check out the cars. The Music City Grand Prix will debut in downtown Nashville Aug. 6-8, 2021.
