First 2024 Ford Mustang Sold for $565,000 at Barrett-Jackson Auction

The 2024 Ford Mustang is one of the highest-anticipated new vehicles of the year. With it being the first year of the seventh generation, the car has a lot of eyes on it. So before it reaches dealership floors, Ford put the very first Mustang with the VIN ending in 001 to be auctioned off at the annual Barrett-Jackson event in Scottsdale, Arizona. The winning bidder has their choice of any standard Mustang GT fastback option, manual or automatic transmission, 11 exterior colors, alloy wheel styles ranging between 18 and 20 inches, and the color of the Brembo brake calipers.

When the final bid was placed, the auction ended with the first 2024 Mustang being sold for $565,000.

All proceeds from the auction were donated to JDRF, a non-profit 501 charity that supports research for type 1 diabetes.

Auctioning off the first next-gen car is a recurring tradition, as Ford often sells the rights to the very first factory models like the most recent Shelby GT500, Mach 1, and Bullitt. Some models have fetched numbers high into the seven-figure range, such as the first 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 which sold for $1.1 million

Pricing information will be released closer to the market launch.

Other highlights of the recent Barrett-Jackson included a one-off Ferrari F40 in Nardo Gray that sold for $2.75 million, as well as a pair of Ford GT Carbon Series supercars that each sold for $1.32 million.

The auction also saw the sale of the rights to the first 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV.
