PowerNation On The Road: Hitting the Tri-Five Nationals in Bowling Green This Weekend

Tri-Five Nationals

If you’re a fan of classic American muscle, there’s only one place to be this weekend—Bowling Green, Kentucky. PowerNation is rolling into the Tri-Five Nationals, one of the biggest celebrations of ’55, ’56, and ’57 Chevys on the planet. And we’re bringing something wild with us.

That’s right—PowerNation On the Road is heading to Beech Bend Raceway, and we’re not showing up empty-handed. On Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM, two familiar faces will be at the event meeting fans, checking out builds, and talking shop: Pat Topolinski from Engine Power and Brian Lohnes from Detroit Muscle. But the real showstopper? We’re hauling in Project Shell Shock, the rowdy, retro-inspired ’56 Chevy Gasser that’s built to turn heads and shake the ground.

A Gathering of Tri-Five Legends

For the uninitiated, the Tri-Five Nationals is a bucket-list event. Thousands of Chevrolet Bel Airs, 210s, Nomads, and more flood into Bowling Green each year, creating a sea of chrome, V8 thunder, and American car culture at its finest. It’s more than just a car show—it’s a full-blown celebration of mid-century muscle, drag strip glory, and classic styling. From meticulously restored originals to over-the-top custom builds, there’s no shortage of horsepower or heritage here.

Meet the PowerNation Team

Whether you’ve been following Pat’s engine builds on Engine Power or watching Brian revive muscle car legends on Detroit Muscle, this is your chance to meet them in person. They’ll be hanging out from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, talking cars, answering questions, and checking out all the iron rolling through the showgrounds.

These guys live and breathe performance, and they’re always down to swap stories with fellow gearheads. So whether you want to pick their brains about cam specs, talk shop about your own Tri-Five build, or just say hello, swing by the PowerNation booth.

Shell Shock Steals the Spotlight

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper PowerNation appearance without a wicked build in tow—and Project Shell Shock delivers in every way. This isn’t your average ’56 Chevy. Built in the spirit of vintage drag racing, Shell Shock is a period-correct Gasser with all the attitude you’d expect from the golden age of straight-axle thunder.

With a nose-high stance, and retro look, Shell Shock looks like it just peeled off the line at Lions Drag Strip in 1966. But don’t let the old-school looks fool you—this Gasser’s going to have some serious bite thanks to the modern craftsmanship and performance tuning you’ve come to expect from the Detroit Muscle and Engine Power crews.

Whether you’re a fan of the retro drag race scene or just appreciate the raw presence of a true street bruiser, Shell Shock’s a must-see. It’s a tribute to everything we love about this hobby—loud, proud, and built to run.
