Rumors Suggest That The V8-Powered Jeep Wrangler 392 Will Be Discontinued in 2024

It was announced that Stellantis would be giving the “Last Call” treatment to the HEMI V8-powered Dodge Durango. Now, rumors strongly suggest that the first V8-powered Jeep Wrangler may also be the last, as an allegedly leaked document on the JL Wranglers fan forum suggests that the Jeep Wrangler 392 Rubicon will be retired with its own special “Last Call” trim.

What Is The Future of the Jeep Wrangler 392?

Stellantis has not released any official news regarding the fate Jeep Wrangler 392, and the company hasn’t confirmed anything regarding a Final Edition model. However, considering that other popular Stellantis models like the Ram 1500 TRX, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger have also been bidding farewell to their current HEMI V8 powertrains with their limited-edition final models.

The company has already announced it would be letting go of the HEMI V8 in favor of the upcoming Hurricane Inline-Six engine, which is expected to be more powerful than its predecessor, and the Jeep Wrangler 392 may be receiving the same treatment.

For comparison, the 3.0L Hurricane Inline-Six engine is expected to produce over 400 horsepower and 450 lb-ft. By comparison, the 5.7L HEMI V8 engine can generate up to 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.

While it has been only online rumors, similar moves by other popular Stellantis brands strongly suggest that the HEMI V8 will be disappearing completely from the current lineup of brands covered under the company.
