Dodge//SRT May Develop Hellcat Engines That Run on E85

Since 2014, Dodge//SRT pulled ahead in the world of high-performance muscle cars with its debut of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat that boasted 707 horsepower under the hood. The bonus part was that this new phase of extra-powered muscle cars was also affordable enough for the average person.

Since then, Dodge has been maintaining itself as a force to be reckoned with when it came to muscle cars that were indeed as powerful as they looked.

However, Dodge//SRT has previously said that the Hellcat era will be coming to a close after the next-gen Dodge Challenger (LB) and Charger (LF) arrive in 2024, which will include more efficient and emissions-friendly internal combustion engines (ICEs) as well as battery-electric vehicle (BEV) powertrains that will be able to outperform the existing lineup of Hellcats.

Even though Dodge has previously announced it will be revealing its concept for a new eMuscle car this summer, we can still count on Dodge//SRT to develop its magnum opus for the Challenger’s supercharged HEMI before they call it curtains.

Rumors suggest that the high-performance engine will be running on ethanol (E85) rather than 100+ octane race fuel. It is also suggested that the limited-production car will be able to produce 850+ horsepower, greater than that of the SRT Demon (808 horsepower).

Obviously, Dodge fans will find the climactic end to the Hellcat era to be bittersweet. So everyone will be intently watching for when that day comes.
