Ford Launches A Special Racing Driver’s Ed Class For The 2024 Mustang Dark Horse
Anyone who manages to get their hands on a 2024 Ford Mustang will probably have a hard time wiping the smile off their face. The same can be said about the high-performance Mustang Dark Horse, which comes equipped with the 2nd-generation 5.0L Coyote V8 engine that produces up to 500 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. In other words, it is the most powerful street-legal Mustang ever created.
Because Ford really put a strong emphasis on the Mustang’s high-speed lifestyle, owners of the 7th-gen Mustang will be able to gain access to a special “driver’s ed” course that takes place on a real race track.
“The Ford Mustang is all about two things: its community of passionate fans and racing,” says Matt Simpson, General Manager for Enthusiast Vehicles. “We’re combining those qualities and giving owners the opportunity to learn some of the same skills our racing drivers will take to Daytona and Le Mans next year. And they’ll do so alongside their fellow enthusiasts.”
Going Back To School in The Mustang Dark Horse
The Mustang Dark Horse Track Attack will take place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in which Mustang Dark Horse owners will have the opportunity to see what their cars are truly capable of in a controlled environment, which just happens to be a real-life race track. The class will have a 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio and attendees will have hands-on instruction on the skid pad, autocross, and the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Best of all, this course is free to all Mustang Dark Horse owners!
The two-night event will begin with an owner reception at the CMS Champion’s Club that overlooks the track, and then progresses into an entire day of personal race car instruction both in the classroom and on the course. Some of the lessons covered in the class include the Dark Horse’s no-lift-shift system, taking to the skid pad, and autocross. The class will conclude with the owners taking their new skills to the test in a lead-follow lapping on the mighty Charlotte Roval with three 20minute sessions, ending in a hot lap with the instructors in the driver’s seat.
Dark Horse Track Attack customers will be eligible to register for this program starting in January 2024. can register for this program starting in January 2024.
“Ford Mustang fans make this car what it is – a global icon for performance and excitement,” says Joe Bellino, Mustang Brand Manager. “And now, we’re giving owners a chance to connect regardless of distance and share their passion.”
