When Clint Johnson, a 104-year-old veteran walked into Joe Basil Chevrolet in New York, he wasn’t expecting his day to end like this.

Johnson walked into the dealership with the intention of buying a 2020 Chevrolet Sonic. However, after seeing his Twentieth Air Force cap, dealership staff saw thought it fitting to thank him for his service. And what better way than by handing over the keys for free?

It turns out, Joe Basil Chevrolet is unlike most dealerships and has a track record of this sort of kindness. It’s reported that up until 2019 the dealership ran a “Vehicles for Vets” program that funded a local veterans’ center and car giveaway. Due to COVID-19 this year, they bypassed the event and gave a car to the first individual they deemed deserving.

Now while a lot of people wouldn’t think twice about a Chevy Sonic, we love to hear stories like this and see dealerships in the news for good rather than ripping off customers or shady business practices. Nicely done, Joe Basil Chevrolet.
