In an unexpected turn of events, an 8-year-old girl from Bedford, Ohio, decided to take her mom’s car on a solo shopping trip to Target. Early Sunday morning, the young driver took control of a 2020 Nissan Rogue and embarked on a nearly 13-mile journey, stunning both local authorities and onlookers.

The Bedford Police Department was called into action when the girl’s family reported her and the SUV missing around 9 a.m. The investigation took a surprising twist when neighbors shared footage from their Ring doorbell camera, capturing the moment the girl hopped into the driver’s seat and took off.

Despite her inexperience, the determined youngster navigated the roads for approximately 25 minutes before arriving at Target, as reported by WSAZ3. Along the way, she admitted to striking a mailbox, but luckily, no one was injured.

Authorities were notified by concerned citizens who had spotted the vehicle swerving along the road. However, the police were initially unable to locate the SUV. Eventually, Flock cameras identified the vehicle near Pettibone Road, leading officers to the Target parking lot.

Inside the store, the girl was found safe and sound, sipping on a Frappuccino. Though police were unsure whether she made any purchases, they allowed her to finish her drink before reuniting her with her understandably shocked family.

This wild joyride has certainly raised eyebrows, but the girl is too young to face any legal consequences. While the incident remains under investigation, authorities are undoubtedly relieved that the only casualty of this unexpected adventure was a mailbox.

This story serves as a reminder that even the most routine morning can take an unexpected turn, especially when an ambitious 8-year-old decides she’s in the mood for a Target run.
