2020 Ford Mustang GT500 Hits 0-60 Faster Than Any Muscle Car

Add this to the list of qualifications for the 2020 Mustang GT500…it can go from 0 mph to 0 mph in 10.6 seconds. With a stop at 100 mph in between.

Carroll Shelby used to run the 0-60 test to promote the combined acceleration and braking performance of his sports cars. And the 2020 GT500 definitely doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it blows every other muscle car away.

The incredible numbers are thanks to the GT500’s 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which manages the 760 HP 5.2-liter V8’s 625 lb-ft of torque.

It’s reported by MotorTrend that the 10.6 second time beats all of the Mustang’s current muscle car rivals. The Camaro ZL1 has a time of 11.1 seconds and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye with an 11.8 second time. It should be noted the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 came in at 10.4 seconds in standard form and 9.7 seconds with its optional high-downforce rear wing. That being said, MotorTrend figures usually are pulled by adding separate 0-100 mph acceleration and 100-0 mph braking tests, instead of the single sprint-and-stop run used for the GT500.
