Welcome to trucks. If you've been paying attention at all over the last couple years, you know, the diesels have gotten extremely popular because they're a tough, strong, long lasting hard working rig.
On the flip side of that,
we've also shown you that it doesn't take much to get some serious power out of these things,
you know, turn them into a hot rod.
Now, of course, all that power is great.
But what about all the other things that you use a truck like this for like towing and hauling and camping and road trips, you know, everyday use. Well, the guys at edge products thought the same thing and they came out with a product that will enhance your truck in more ways than you can imagine.
And it's right over here on the table.
Well, there it is the edge
ultra attitude. Now, this innocent looking little module will give you five different power levels. So you can punch in up to 100 and 20 extra horsepower with just the push of a button.
It'll also give you readouts for 0 to 60 times, quarter mile times horsepower numbers, torque numbers,
it'll even give you a readout of all your engine functions. Now, on top of that, you have a state of the art GPS system.
So not only will you never get lost,
you never even have to ask for directions. Yeah, that's not it. Take a look at this.
This is a remote wireless camera you mount at the back of the truck and it allows you to keep an eye on your load or your trailer or heck even check out how long a Black March you just left.
Now, I know what you're thinking. Oh, wait a minute,
that's it.
This is gonna do all that. Nothing else to put on. No, that's it.
The best part is, this is so easy to put on.
You are not gonna believe it. Come on.
The first thing we'll do is mount the module to the fuse box cover
using the supplied velcro
next disconnect the injector plugs
and then just plug the edge module into those.
Now, this is very simple. They only go in one way
and what these plugs do is allow the module
to control the timing and the duration of the fuel injectors.
Now, plug into your map connector. Now, what this will do is read your boost and match it to your fuel needs depending on what power level you're on.
The data link is the next hookup to make. Of course, it just plugs in
and this allows the module to monitor all the parameters of the computer,
the next hook up is for power. And for that, all you have to do is pop the lid of the fuse box
and then plug into the supplied fuse tab.
Now, keeping an eye on your exhaust gas temperatures is very important, especially when you're building power in a diesel because if you get things too hot,
yeah, you're gonna damage something. So to monitor that you need to mount this pyro

probe into the exhaust manifold. Now, all you've got to do is drill a hole and tap it. I've showed you how to do that in the past
and then just mount the probe
into the manifold.
Once your probe is in place, run your wiring,
make your connections over here at the module and you are done under the hood and ready
to go into the cab. Now see I told you this was easy.
The biggest challenge you're gonna face inside the cab here is deciding where you're gonna mount this big old monitor.
Now, usually we tell you to put it over here by the A pillar.
But as you can see, this monitor is big enough to where that's gonna cause a little bit of an obstruction,
but you still want to mount it somewhere to where you have easy access to these controls. Now, on this truck right under the rear view mirror tilted toward the driver is gonna be a really nice spot.
Now, of course, to mount it, it just takes some velcro, once you have it in place,
all you have to do
is run your cable to it and hook it up
and you're done inside the cab.
The last piece that we're gonna put on is this little remote camera.
Now, you can mount this thing anywhere you want. You can put it on the tailgate, you can put it on the bumper,
you can put it at the end of your trailer. Heck, you can mount it in the cab, looking back into the back seat to, to see if your kids are fighting or whatever.
Now, to mount this edge has given you some choices. You can use the bracket that's got the suction cup. You can use the bracket that's got a magnet that'll stick to the metal or if you need something a little more permanent, you can use the bracket that actually bolts to something.
Now, once you have the camera mounted,
you just need to hook it up. Now, remember I told you that this has a wireless signal which means
you don't have to run any wires, no cables, nothing up to the cab. That is nice.
However, you do need a power source, but that's all right
edge has got you taken care of there. They've got this adapter
plugs into the trailer plug
and all you have to do
is plug it into the camera.
Well, that's it. It's all hooked up
and as you can see by our difficulty meter. This really is something that just about anybody can do
with just the simplest of hand tools. But the big question is
how well is all this stuff really gonna work?

and we've modified it with the new ultra attitude kit from edge products,
but this kit isn't just about performance, although that's a big part of it.
It also has a state of the art GPS system and a rear remote camera. And we're gonna put this thing through the paces and see how it does.
All right. What about the functions for this system? Well,
check them out.
You have virtual gauges for your exhaust gas temperature and your turbo boost.
Then over here you have digital readouts for all your engine functions. Then of course, on top,
that's the power level you're on
the GPS system is something that everybody's gonna love because nobody likes to stop and ask directions. Once you're traveling,
all you have to do is punch in the destination
and you not only get a visual map on the screen,
but the monitor will even tell you what string to turn on 470 ft. Go ahead, turn right on two
mile
to drive
and if you miss a turn,
the ultra attitude will automatically reroute you.
So you still get to the destination in the shortest way, possible,
wrong direction.
They
turn around and go north on my
door.
Now,
isn't that a lot better than this?
And you go down about a quarter mile or so and, uh, hang your first left,
uh, careful as the driveway just before that, you might be a little confused. I don't know, just kind of look for it there,
out, out this direction,
man. I have no idea.
Now, backup warnings and alarms have been around for a while.
Unfortunately, they are not the most effective systems.
All right, I guess it doesn't work so good. How's Daisy,
the edge system? On the other hand, with this little spy camera
actually lets you see what's going on behind you.
This can be invaluable when you're hooking up a trailer.
It also can keep you from backing over things like toys or garbage cans or of course, that unsuspecting cameraman
and of course, we've saved the best for last
with level five rolling in 100 and 20 extra horsepower and around 300 extra foot pounds of torque.
This thing will flat get with it
and if you want to shake your ear to 60 quarter mile times,
you'll find it'll shave about two seconds off your stock times.
Now, I know you're wondering with all this smoke, just how much damage am I doing to the truck?
Well, the ultra attitude will automatically
Deuel the engine if exhaust temperature gets too high
or the tranny slips too much or if your turbo boost gets too high
because edge doesn't want to destroy your truck, they just want to make it faster.
However, for tires
you're on your own.
Well, there you have it, a state of the art system available for Fords, Chevys or dodges, easy to put in and it's affordable
that my friends is a smoking deal.

Now, we're all familiar with a Sawzall and a jigsaw and a hacksaw and we all need these in our toolboxes,
but
there are some other tools out there and that's what I'm gonna show you.
Now, the
Sawzall and the jigsaw are both very maneuverable. That's their strong point.
But what if you want to make a nice long straight cut
in a piece of sheet metal?
Well, those will do that,
but there are some better tools out there.
Specifically
this evolution, 180 circular saw from heck industries. Now, this thing is specifically made to cut metal, special blade, special motor,
not plywood, not two by fours
metal.
Take a look at this.
Look at this. A nice clean straight cut with no distortion on either piece. If you do a lot of sheet metal fabrication or metal work,
this boy here can make your life a lot easier.
All right, the next tool we are gonna take a look at is the band saw. Of course, this one's made by Dake.
And if you are a serious builder or fabricator and you can only afford one big shop tool
and it needs to be a band saw. You will use these more than you can imagine.
And the reason is they are so versatile. Check this out.
It's basically just a blade out in the middle of nowhere
that'll cut anything
at any angle to whatever shape you can imagine.
However, the band saw is without a doubt, one of the most dangerous tools in the shop,
a single take off a finger or a hand so quick, you won't believe it.
So on tight work using a push block is absolutely mandatory.
Now, as cool as this is,
does this mean that everybody needs to go out and buy a big old band saw? No, no,
for the average home shop, you can do some pretty amazing things with a jigsaw and Sawzall. We showed you that.
But
if you wanna get more serious, remember this,
having the right tools makes all the difference.
You know, one of the most important components in any engine is the lowly piston ring.
It's also one of the most misunderstood because it's just
a little piece of metal. But
this is what builds the compression in your engine. Now, obviously in a gasoline engine and a diesel engine, your rings are a little bit different gasoline engine.
You might get 100 and 80,000 miles out of it before you're ready for new rings.
A big rig diesel like this,
you might get 800,000 miles out of it. So, what's going on? What's different? How does it work?

All right, Danny, we're talking big rig diesel is your favorite. We have three minutes to explain the form and the function of the piston rings. Let's start with a design. All right, this is a, a top compression ring.
Um There is a difference uh in this ring than there is to other top compression rings. Ok? Tell us about the shape of it. I notice it's flat on the bottom. It does, it has a flat bottom on it and it does have a taper at the top. Ok. Notice a
regular gasoline piston ring is pretty much square.
All right, tell me about the design of this. Why is that important?
We're gonna take a look at this piston over here to try to explain that just a little bit as this com this piston comes up on the compression stroke, we have the air coming down, forcing this ring against the, the ringland
also forcing it out against the cylinder wall, which makes a heck of a seal. A great seal. Ok. Better than a regular piston. Yes, it will. Ok. Now, most people realize that a piston ring has a certain amount of spring to it
and when that spring is gone,
time for new piston, it's time for a rebuild in a gasoline engine, diesel engine with this Keystone ring.
What happens much better? We can lose some of that spring. It can happen. But the great thing about the keystone is, is the, the air is gonna force it down
and force it out whether it wants to or not, it's still gonna seal. Still gonna have a great seal. So, how important is that to the 800,000 miles? You get out of a big rig. It's awesome. I mean, even though we may get a little bit of relaxation in that spring pressure, we're still gonna have great compression out of the engine. Is this one of the main reasons those
engines can go so many miles
has a lot to do with it.
Now, I notice you have three compression rings.
Are they all the same design? Yeah, they are, they're all the same keystone design. So, if something would happen and we do get a little bit of relaxation here or something and we lose a little bit past it. These are gonna continue,
uh, to make that same type of compression out against the cylinder wall. Of course, the lower ring is the oil ring. Exactly. Ok. Now, I have noticed on the diesel piston
that you have a metal sleeve in this top compression.
What's the deal with that? We're gonna flip this thing over a little bit. So maybe we can see it just a little bit better.
Um What this does is is if this, if this piston was completely an all aluminum, what can happen is this ring can beat this ringland out just because of the pressure of it coming down.
But with this steel insert, we don't get any, any deter
in there at all, it remains the same.
Now, if, if, by some reason you did get some deterioration, is that sleeve replaceable? No, it's not. Ok. So once it's gone, it's gone,
throw it away.
Get another one. That's
all right. Around 100 and 80,000 miles in a gasoline engine
or around 800,000 miles in a big rig diesel. These
are how it works.
Most people know that the main killer of an automatic transmission is heat
and the way to solve that is to put on a transmission cooler. But there is another way to help keep those temperatures down.
And that is put on a thin aluminum transmission pan from B and M. Now this helps out in a couple of ways. It holds more oil and the aluminum dissipates heat better to keep that extra oil cooler.
Not to mention, this looks a lot better than a stock pan and
it's got a drain plug. So you don't have to drop the pan to change the oil B and M's got these for most applications
when you're building your rig. Whether it's for the street or the trail. One place you don't wanna skimp is the battery.
So, where do you find a good battery? I thought you'd never ask.
This is called The Rock. It's a fully sealed maintenance free battery shock resistant
and you can literally mount it in any position
using this special mount
bracket.
This is what you'll find in most of your race cars. Now. This is small, but it packs a tremendous amount of power
and it also has a very quick recovery time. So if you want a battery that'll handle that winch or those lights or that big engine,
you need a rock that's gonna do it for today. Next week we are gonna finish up the little red wagon.
