“The Fall Guy” Action/Comedy Film Is Coming To Theaters Starring Ryan Gosling in 2024
Those familiar with the 1980’s television show The Fall Guy will remember Lee Majors as Colt Seavers, an out-of-work Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a bounty hunter for some extra cash. But on March 1st, 2024, Colt Seavers will be returning to the silver screen in the full-length action/thriller/comedy adaptation.
What is the Plot of The Fall Guy?
Colt Seavers, a stuntman struggling for work, gets a call from an ex-girlfriend to be the stuntman for a huge, egotistical Hollywood actor in her blockbuster movie directorial debut. But when the film’s star suddenly goes missing, it is up to Colt to navigate the dirty and cruel underworld to rescue the actor, the film, and his relationship with his former love, showing the world that there is no challenge that he can’t handle.
Who is in The Fall Guy Cast?
Directed by former stuntman David Leitch (Bullet Train, John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2), The Fall Guy will star Ryan Gosling as Colt Seavers as the film’s lead. Also joining Gosling in the film include Emily Blunt as his former girlfriend and rising film director, Aaron Taylor Johnson as the narcissistic actor Seavers will be doing stunts for, Stephanie Hsu as the star’s assistant, Winston Duke as Seaver’s best friend, and Hannah Waddingham as the film’s producer.
At the 2023 CinemaCon, Gosling and Blunt shared a short teaser for attendees after a complete stunt team delivered a full-blown live action sequence. It was complete with stunts like a motorcycle dragging a man across the stage, gymnastics, a mini car darting back and forth, and ended with Leitch “detonating” two performers that leaped from the Colosseum rafters to strategically-placed mats on the stage. It was here when the two actors emerged to give their presentation while pretending to be shaken up by all the action.
“Is it safe?” joked Blunt. “We’re not trained to do that Dave,” added Gosling. “We are just trained to stand over here and take credit for it.”
In an article by Collider, Producer Kelly McCormick described the film as a big nod to the hard-working stunt men and women that put their bodies and lives on the line in order to make these kinds of projects possible. “It just feels like we’re paying homage to the stunt community and to, really, cinema and those of us who make the movies. And it’s sort of a love letter to the industry,” said McCormick. “On top of it just being really fun and what I think will be a really good time for the audience.”
Filmed by Leitch’s production company 87North, production for The Fall Guy began in October 2022 in Sydney, Australia, and wrapped up in March 2023. While no official teasers or trailers for the film have been released yet, fans can expect it to arrive in theaters on March 1st, 2023.
