The Dodge Challenger has become an increasingly big target for car thieves because they fetch a high price on the black market, which is usually then sold to customers overseas. One particular model, a very limited-edition 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, was stolen off a local lot in Caledonia Township, Michigan in less than two minutes.

Jordan Baker, the owner of Comodo Motors, shared a video to the dealership’s social media explaining the incident and is asking the public for help in locating the stolen car.

What Makes This Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Special?

How Was It Stolen So Quickly?

Security camera footage show thieves approaching the car at 4:16 in the morning and were able to drive it right off the lot by 4:18 am. It is believed that the thieves were able to electronically program a key to the car through a particular computer module to override its security system.

According to Baker, the only remaining evidence left behind by the thieves included a price of shattered tinted glass from the car, and a food wrapper from a local seafood restaurant.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into the car theft. It is believed that aside from being sold as a single unit, Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Challenger Hellcat SRT Redeye will be stripped for parts due to its 6.2-liter V8 engine which can produce 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. The parts themselves can be sold for between $30,000 and $40,000.

Before it was stolen, this Dodge Challenger was said to be on display at the dealership for about a month.
