Production for 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 to Begin in Late-August 2022

It has been announced that production for the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 is scheduled to begin on August 29th, 2022. This will mark the beginning of Regular Cab and Crew Cab models, while the Double Cab Silverado 1500 will not start production until a week later on September 6th.

Other models of the Silverado are expected to begin earlier in the summer of 2022. The 2023 Chevy Silverado HD is set to begin on July 18th, 2022 at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and at the GM Oshawa plant in Ontario, Canada. Meanwhile, the lighter-duty Sierra 1500 will be produced at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana as well as the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

What will be new with the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 is the addition of the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine to its powertrain lineup. The LZ0 will replace the previous 3.0 I6 LM2 engine, and will deliver the same performance, but have improved emissions and fuel economy.

There will be a total of four engine options compatible with the 2023 Silverado 1500. The previously mentioned LZ0 turbodiesel, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, the 5.3L V8 L84 aspirated gasoline engine, and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine.

It is also believed that some 2023 models will not be equipped with Rear Park Assist and Front & Rear Park Assist features in time for the official launch due to the global microchip shortage.
