News Reporter Hit By SUV on Live TV, Continues Reporting
A rule of thumb in journalism school is “never become the news.” That is what WSAZ reporter Tori Yorgey found out when she was accidentally hit by a car during her report on live television.
The segment was intended to discuss the dangers of driving on icy roads. Then in a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy, Yorgey was struck by a passing vehicle.
“I just got hit by a car, but I’m okay Tim,” says Yorgey.
What surprised viewers even more was how Yorgey maintained her professionalism throughout the incident and proceeded to deliver her report after dusting herself off. “That’s live TV for you. It’s all good,” said Yorgey. “I am so glad I am okay.”
While the driver can be heard repeatedly apologizing off-screen, Yorgey informs viewers that this wasn’t the first time she was hit by a car, mentioning that it once happened to her while in college too.
