Ford’s Supercharged 2023 F-150 Raptor R is “Scary Fast”; Arrives July 18th

2021 Ford F-150 Raptor

In the last few months there have been a handful of rumors and sneak-peeks at the highly-awaited Ford F-150 Raptor R. Giving the Ram TRX some stiff competition in terms of horsepower, a prototype of this off-roading pickup truck was demonstrated at the Bronco Raptor drive program, which only added even more hype.

Ford has since shared a horror movie-style poster on their social media teasing just how powerful the F-150 Raptor R is. Describing it as “Scary Fast”, Ford encourages interested customers to “experience a new kind of fast” on July 18th.

Making its debut in only a few days, lots of interested parties are excited to finally bear witness to the F-150 Raptor R’s supercharged 5.2L V8 engine, aka “The Predator.” Ford fans will recognize this as the same engine from the Mustang Shelby GT500 that generates 760 horsepower. Given its size, the F-150 probably will not set the same numbers as the Mustang Shelby GT500, but could certainly outrun the Ram TRX.

There is speculation over whether or not the Raptor R will come equipped with the same 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as found in the Mustang Shelby GT500. But another rumor suggests that it could come with a P702 transmission featuring a new torque converter, turbine dampener, and improved 10R80. Regardless, this 10-speed upgrade would allow this truck’s speed to operate faster than the Chevy Camaro ZL1.

Witnesses say that the Raptor R is visually identical to the standard Raptor, minus its R badging. However, its the Raptor R’s performance that sets it apart from its doppelganger. It is highly likely that production for the Raptor R will be limited, so only genuinely interested parties apply on July 18th.
