Ford F-150 Raptor 37 Being Recalled Due to Loose Lug Nuts, Potential Wheel Separation
High-performing off-roading vehicles will occasionally throw a wheel while out hitting the dunes and trails. It’s not outside the realm of possibilities of things that could happen after lots of wear and tear. It’s not an ideal situation, but even less-than-ideal for when the vehicle is brand new.
That is the case for the 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor 37 which has received a recall for reports of loosely-installed lug nuts. Kind of a buzzkill, especially because the truck got its moniker in reference to its muscular 37-inch tires. But those tires will hardly be a point of pride when they are being thrown off the axle.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that “incorrectly tightened wheel lug nuts on a number of 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor 37s can loosen and result in wheel separation from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.”
In a statement released by Ford, “Dealers will tighten or replace the wheel lug nuts, as necessary, free of charge.” Perhaps the robot responsible for installing the original lug nuts might also have a few screws loose.
