Elon Musk Promises the Cybertruck Will Arrive in Summer 2023

It was only 2019 when Elon Musk unveiled the Tesla Cybertruck in front of a live audience. Its futuristic, Blade Runner-style design, along with all of the utilities of a truck, as well as the performance of a sports car, made it one of the most sought-after vehicles since its debut. Three years later, the Cybertruck has gone through a long list of delays that have left many eager customers anxious.

However, in a recent webcast held for Tesla’s Q2 2022 financial results, Musk is heard saying of the Cybertrucks, “We’re hoping to start delivery in the middle of next year.”

Musk went on to discuss how Tesla will continue to set the bar against its competition regarding new EV technology. Currently, the company is valued five times more than that of GM, Ford, and Stellantis put together.

Some of the latest technological updates coming from Tesla include:

  • Replacing its 2170 battery-cell platform with a reinforced 4680 “structural pack.”
  • Deploying the Beta version of Tesla’s FSD (full self-driving) feature to 100,000 owners for city street driving capabilities. Although, Musk does claim that so far Tesla customers have collected over 35 million miles using the FSD Beta system.
  • Continuing to work on the FSD’s “static and moving object network” by using dynamic video and spatial memory. Musk later says that in despite all of this, it is “probably not necessary to achieve full self-driving.”
