Elon Musk Announces Tesla Will Be Building ‘Robotaxis’ without Drivers or Pedals by 2024
Tesla CEO Elon Musk is always making headlines for every major endeavor he announces, whether it’s putting people on Mars, autonomous robots, buying Twitter, etc. In a recent earnings call, Musk that Tesla would be launching its Robotaxi in 2024.
Musk previously made the statement that Tesla owners could utilize its Full Self-Driving Technology to let their car go make them money as a ride-share vehicle when they are not using it. However, the Full Self-Driving upgrade has been in development since 2016, and it is expected to stay there until all of its errors are dealt with.

But what is Musk’s vision for the Robotaxi? It would be specifically designed for only transporting passengers, meaning it will not have any controls, steering wheel, or pedals, and will be ready by 2024. Musk also believes that the Robotaxi will be cheaper than taking the bus, delivering the lowest cost-per-mile/km.
Driverless cars, though still in their infancy, are slowly being introduced into the main populace. Recently, a driverless-taxi was pulled over by San Francisco police for not having its headlights on.
