Apple Watch Series 8 and iPhone 14 Will Come with “Crash Detection” Feature
During its event to debut the iPhone 14, Apple announced that both the new iPhone and the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 will come with a new “Crash Detection” feature in the event that the owner may be involved in a serious car crash.
Developed after using motion data based on simulated real-world accidents, including head-on, rear-end, side-impact, and rollovers, the Crash Detection feature will be able to sense if a real car accident has taken place.
Once activated, the device will check in with the user. If the user is unresponsive after the 10-second countdown, first responders will be contacted and receive the location of its location. This same information will also be shared with the user’s emergency contacts.
Both the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 are scheduled to launch on September 16th. The iPhone 14 Plus will be launching a few weeks afterward on October 7th.
