Jeep Wrangler Gets Ironically Stuck in a NYC Manhole; New Yorkers Surprisingly Helpful
Everyone knows the Jeep Wrangler’s reputation for being a very capable and durable off-roading SUV. So whenever one gets stuck in an embarrassing way, Jeep fans can’t help but cringe to watch as their pride gets damaged. But mistakes happen, just like the Jeep owner who found himself in a precarious situation in which one of his Wrangler’s tires gets stuck in an open manhole cover in New York City.

And if that wasn’t enough, this same Jeep Wrangler has a bold “CR4WL3R” graphic on the side of its hood. Further proof that the universe does indeed have a sense of humor.
Jeep Wrangler vs. New York City
Anyone that has taken a Jeep off-roading knows the risks involved, and that there can be certain situations in which your vehicle will most definitely get stuck. That is why a winch is one of those “have it and not need it than need it and not have it” upgrades that many owners install. But considering that this Jeep Wrangler owner did not appear to have a winch, or know how to operate 4WD, he received some assistance from an unexpected source… local New Yorkers.
Native New Yorkers also have a reputation for being mean-spirited, stubborn, and hard-nosed. In certain situations, this is true. But not always. In an additional layer of irony to this story, a handful of bystanders came to the Jeep owner’s rescue by manually lifting the SUV out of the pothole, allowing him to reverse back onto the street.
The Happy Ending
After cheers and applause from bystanders and rescuers, the ordeal had a happy ending for all. The owner of the Jeep Wrangler may have had his ego bruised a bit, though. Especially since his blunder has been viewed by over 6 million people on Twitter. But a win is a win. Maybe he’ll use this embarrassing moment as an opportunity to really grow his off-roading skills outside of the city.
