Check Out The High-Powered Ford Mustang GT3 Built To Dominate Le Mans

The 24 Hours of Le Mans in known for being one of the most iconic endurance races in the world, and Ford’s Mustang GT3 is here to accept the challenge.

Projected to hit the track in June 2024, Ford is giving the competition a sneak-peek at what they’ve got in store for them. Based on the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, the Mustang GT3 race car was unveiled with a bold new look as it is officially entered into the global FIA GT3 category. The last time Ford emerged victorious at the 24 Hours of Le Mans was in 2016 with the race car-version of its Ford GT. Now, the Ford racing team aims to reclaim that title eight years later.

“Ford and Le Mans are bound together by history. And now we’re coming back to the most dramatic, most rewarding and most important race in the world,” says Ford CEO Jim Farley. “It is not Ford versus Ferrari anymore. It is Ford versus everyone. Going back to Le Mans is the beginning of building a global motorsports business with Mustang, just like we are doing with Bronco and Raptor off-road.”

A Fresh New Look for Le Mans

Many of the cars included in the GT3 category at Le Mans are just as flashy as they are in performance, Ford made it their mission to make their Mustang GT3 simple, bold, and loud. This same design will now be featured on all of Ford’s racing vehicles.

The unveiling of this new look allows Ford to present itself as a high-performance brand that can fit into the lifestyles of prospective customers with an eye for cars that are equally sporty and muscular. The same can be said for it doubling as a lifestyle brand that extends into merchandise, apparel, parts, accessories, car liveries, and more.

Continuing Collaboration with Two Longtime Partners

As Ford prepared for the 2024 Le Mans, the development of the Ford Mustang GT3 extended the automaker’s relationship with longtime partners Multimatic, and M-Sport to continue meeting their standards on racing performance and power. Multimatic is the company responsible for building the Ford GT, as well as being part of the Ford GT racing program. M-Sport is the two-time World Rally Championship-winning team that will be in charge of assembling the heavy-duty 5.4-liter Coyote-based V8 engines developed by Ford Performance to serve as the mighty heart of the Mustang GT3.

To meet the GT3 criteria of the 2024 Le Mans, the Mustang GT3 will feature bespoke short-long arm suspension, a rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, carbon fiber body panels, as a uniquely-design aero package to help this pony cut through the wind.
