Some Guy Successfully Snuck Onto The NASCAR Street Race Course with a Corvette

Nearly all of us dream of driving in a real-life NASCAR race. But one determined (and lucky) Corvette owner actually made that happen during the NASCAR Street Course that was held in Chicago on July 1st, 2023.

How Did A Corvette Get on the NASCAR Track?

According to police, a man driving a Corvette purposefully drove onto the NASCAR Street Course after hours on Saturday, July 1st, and was charged with negligent driving. It is unknown whether we managed to actually complete a lap on the course, but the graphics applied to the Corvette suggest that it was sponsored by a local cannabis business in an effort to “blend in” with the rest of the cars.

Police say that the driver of the Corvette hit a barrier on South DuSable Lake Shore Drive around 9 PM, and was able to enter the closed-off track. Earlier that day, NASCAR officials had to postpone the race on the Xfinity Series The Loop 121 course due to bad weather. So by the time this Corvette rolled onto the track, nearly everyone in attendance was gone.

However, having some unknown car appear on the NASCAR track isn’t going to go unnoticed by officials. Because the very sight and sound of an unofficial car driving by itself on the course without anyone around is already suspect and enough to inform the police.

The man was reportedly escorted off the track by police around 9:30 PM, cutting whatever NASCAR dreams he may have had short.

What Happened To The Driver?

Following this brief moment of late-night thrills, the 46-year-old Corvette driver was charged with negligent driving, not possessing any valid registration, and operating an uninsured vehicle. It was also reported that there was a passenger in the car with him, though no information on that individual has been shared by authorities. At the end of the night, no arrests were made and the Corvette was not impounded.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, it is believed that the car is tied to local rapper Vic Mensa, whose cannabis brand, “93 Boyz” was featured on the graphics of the vehicle spotted on the track. Should this all be part of a half-thought publicity stunt to promote his cannabis business, racing a sports car on a high-speed track isn’t exactly the smartest way to mellow out. Or maybe they were really just big NASCAR fans looking to seize the moment. Either way, they’ve now got bragging rights. And we all know how much rappers hate to brag.
